Nathalie paused, remembering the dangerous situation she was currently in. “Your injuries haven’t healed yet…”
‘Are you worried about me?
Before she could even finish her sentence, Larice stepped closer, his dark,
predatory gaze locking onto her.
Nathalie was speechless.
She really shouldn’t have bothered!
Her expression iced over as she walked straight out of the villa.
A faint smirk touched Lance’s lips before he effortlessly matched her
stride.
Adelaide was surprised to see him. Her eyes dropped to his legs for a moment before she asked bluntly, “Didn’t you break your legs in a car crash? You healed up that fast?”
Nathalie’s breath hitched.
Crap!
How could she have forgotten to get their stories straight?
mmediately, she felt a heavy stare land on her. Even without looking, she <new exactly who it was.
Lance glanced at her for a second, clearly amused that she had used such an outrageous excuse. Without missing a beat, he replied smoothly ‘It wasn’t anything serious, Grandmother.”
A knowing gleam flashed through Adelaide’s eyes, but she didn’t press the issue.
They got into the car and drove straight to the private hospital owned by The Blair Group.
Chapter 402
Daniel was pacing outside the ward. When he spotted them, he hurried over to support Adelaide’s arm. “How have you been doing lately?”
Adelaide’s expression remained passive. “I’m recovering well.”
Daniel nodded. “If Camilla sees how well you’re doing, it’ll definitely put
her mind at ease.”
Without another word, Adelaide walked straight into the hospital room.
Camilla looked drastically different. She was gaunt, her eyes hollow, exuding an overwhelming sense of exhaustion.
‘Mom…”
Surprised by Adelaide’s arrival, Camilla weakly tried to push herself up.
Daniel hurried forward to help her, adjusting the pillows so she could sit up comfortably.
Nathalie guided her grandmother to a chair before taking several steps back, watching the scene unfold with cool detachment.
‘Nathalie.”
Seeing her daughter, Camilla grew even more emotional, reaching out a trembling hand.
Nathalie didn’t step forward. She didn’t speak. Her clear eyes remained completely indifferent.
Camilla’s hand hovered stiffly in the air, trembling as a suffocating tension filled the quiet room.
Daniel’s brows snapped together. “Nathalie, you—”
“How did it come to this?”
Adelaide finally spoke, staring at Camilla’s sickly, withered face.
Camilla slowly lowered her hand. “My health was never great to begin with Too much has happened lately. I just couldn’t hold on.”
