Chapter 435
Lance let out a low scoff, completely unfazed, and cut straight to the chase. “Lawrence called me multiple times today. He asked me to track down a girl. Apparently, she slept with him, refused to take responsibility, and bolted. He wants her found immediately, and he offered me a deal I couldn’t refuse. So, here I am.”
He shifted his gaze to Damaris, a mocking glint in his eyes. “Lawrence is very taken with you.”

Cursing him a million times in her head, she stalked into the kitchen and begrudgingly poured him a glass of water.
Nathalie kept her stern gaze locked on him. “What exactly is the deal?”
He’s been holding back on telling me who hired the hitman,” Lance replied casually “Now, he’s willing to trade that information.”
He looked at her, clearly entertained by her dilemma. “What’s your move, Nathalie?”
Nathalie’s hands curled into fists. “I would never trade my best friend’s safety for that!”
Lance let out a soft chuckle. “I figured you’d say that. Which is why I came to see you instead of bringing him with me.”

A fraction of the tension drained from Nathalie’s shoulders, but she remained guarded. “So what do you actually want?”
Lance raised an eyebrow. “You think I’m scheming against you again?”
“When are you not?” A flicker of raw pain and exhaustion crossed Nathalie’s clear eyes, though she quickly masked it with cold indifference.
Lance’s gaze turned somber.
At that moment, Damaris returned and practically slammed the glass of water onto the table in front of him. She bit her lip. “Look, I don’t care what kind of shady deal you two made. But fine, Lance, I won’t curse you out anymore, and I’ll stay out of your way. Just… please don’t tell him who I am.”
She had thought about it logically. Anyone who associated with Lance was bound to be bad news. She just had to lay low. It was only one messy night-time would eventually wash it away!
Lance picked up the glass, took a slow sip, and set it down. “Get the guest room ready. If she’s not leaving, neither am I.”
