The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 471

But they never should have poisoned her grandmother. Nathalie didn’t care about many people in this world, but her grandmother was the exception. Days had passed, yet the older woman’s condition hadn’t improved. Her reactions remained sluggish, and she spent most of her time in a daze. Seeing her like this broke Nathalie’s heart-and fueled her hatred for Daniel and Camilla. Damaris looked at her calm expression and asked carefully, “Nathalie, do you really have nothing to say? They… after all, they’re the family who raised you.”

Blood relations didn’t seem to matter anymore. From birth, they had treated her as their own. Before she turned ten, Nathalie had lived like a princess, showered with love by Daniel and Camilla. But then… Nathalie said, “I was the one who orchestrated the downfall of the Blair Group.”

Damaris gasped, shock written all over her face. She couldn’t believe it. But quickly, she gave Nathalie a thumbs up. “Beautifully done! You finally learned how to fight back and protect yourself!”

Nathalie smiled, though a shadow crossed her eyes. “If I could, I just want my grandmother back to how she used to be.” Warm, loving, always holding her hand, her wrinkles hiding endless tenderness. Not this hollow, empty shell of a person.

Damaris threw an arm around her shoulders, her face falling. “It’s so cruel. How could anyone poison her? Whatever happens to them now is exactly what they deserve!”

Nathalie patted her hand. “I’m fine. Right now, my focus is taking care of my grandmother and bettering myself.”

“Exactly. You need to become so strong that no one can ever bully you again. Then, you can kick that jerk Lance to the curb! Go find some gorgeous male models to play with. I bet any of them would be sweeter and more obedient than him,” Damaris said, her eyes practically sparkling as if she were already picturing it.

“Kick who to the curb?” A low, magnetic voice laced with a chilling edge drifted into the roorn.

Damaris’s smile froze. “I… I have somewhere to be. Catch you later.”

“Drive safe,” Nathalie laughed, watching her best friend flee as if chased by a predator.

Lance arched a brow. “Were you two talking about me?”

Nathalie glanced at him. “No. Just discussing the recent chaos at the Blair Group.”

Lance walked over, his gaze shifting to the sleeping elderly woman. “Did you tell her? About moving back to Lumina Grand?”

Nathalie frowned, resistance clear on her face.

“It’s safe there,” Lance pressed. “There’s plenty of space. She can get fresh air. Keeping her cooped up here at The Observatory is no different from putting her in a cell.”

Nathalie gave him a blank look. “We’ll talk about it later.”

He watched her in silence.
