"Of course I was," Sophia admitted with a firm nod. "But I know how good you've been to me. I could never do anything to hurt you, and I would never betray you."

A rush of warmth settled in Nathalie's chest, and a soft smile touched her lips. "Thank you for saying that. But if he ever comes to you with questions again, just tell him the truth and let him take it up with me."

Sophia nodded eagerly. "Okay!"

Nathalie headed upstairs for a shower. Once she was clean and refreshed, her phone chimed. It was a text from Damaris.
