The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 521

Nathalie's breath caught for a split second, her body going rigidly still.

Lance laid her down on the bed, his intense heat enveloping her. He hovered over her, taking in her slightly drowsy, disheveled appearance.

"Why the rush to leave?"

He asked the question in a low, resonant voice as he slowly lowered himself. His signature crisp, clean scent settled over her, wrapping around her inch by inch until she was completely trapped.

Nathalie tensed, her fingers curling against the sheets. Watching his slow, deliberate movements, she frowned slightly. "If we're doing this, then hurry up. Are you a man or not, dragging it out like this?"

"Heh..."

Lance let out a soft scoff. "You of all people should know exactly what kind of man I am."

Instead of his usual fiery urgency, he closed the distance by mere millimeters. The tip of his nose brushed lightly against her cheek, and his lips grazed the corner of her mouth in a phantom touch.

It was a fleeting contact.

There was no real physical weight to it, yet his presence commanded her every sense.

He was taking his time, letting the anticipation build.

With his teasing movements, a faint, rosy flush began to spread across her luminous skin. She had just showered; a subtle, warm fragrance clung to her, and her long hair fanned out in tousled waves across the mattress.

Nathalie instinctively pushed against his chest. "If you're not going to do anything, I'm leaving."

"Who said I wasn't going to do anything?"

Lance pinned her wrists down, pressing light, teasing kisses along her jawline.

"I just want to take it slow today. Are you in that much of a hurry?"

For every word he spoke, he pressed another kiss to her skin. His predatory gaze was locked onto her, closely monitoring her reactions.

Nathalie's breathing grew shaky. She knew perfectly well she couldn't outmuscle him.

Resigned, she shut her eyes, refusing to look at him or rush him anymore.

But Lance wasn't deterred by her passive resistance. He knew her body's most sensitive points far too well. With just a few expert strokes and playful caresses from his fingertips, a light tremble racked her frame.

That faint, warm scent of hers completely surrounded him, tangling with his own.

A momentary daze flickered in Lance's eyes before he seized control, deepening the kiss with a fierce hunger.

All of his previous slow, deliberate teasing shattered in an instant.

Everything rapidly spiraled out of control.

When it was finally over, Lance held her close, nipping lightly at her shoulder. "You cheated," he said, his voice completely hoarse.

Nathalie pushed him away, preparing to get out of bed.

But Lance immediately wrapped his arms around her waist. "Don't go. Sleep here tonight."

"If I sleep here, I'll just be reminded of all those times in the past when you got a call from Felice James and walked out, regardless of what we were doing." Nathalie's breathing was still a little ragged, but her words were ice-cold. "Do you want me to be up all night?"

The arm around her waist tightened significantly.

Lance leaned in and kissed her again. "If you're going to overthink, then we'll just keep going. I'll make sure you don't have the energy to think at all."
