The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 528

The next morning, Nathalie walked downstairs to find Damaris already awake, shooting her an incredibly resentful glare.

"Ahem."

Nathalie coughed awkwardly, walking over to the table. "What do you want for breakfast?"

Damaris pouted so hard she could have balanced a spoon on her lip. She grumbled, "I waited for you all night."

Nathalie didn't know what to say.

There was really no explaining her way out of this one.

She quickly spun around and headed for the kitchen. "I'm going to go see what the chef made!"

Damaris huffed. "Hmph!"

Just then, Lance casually descended the staircase.

Damaris glared at him and muttered under her breath, "Charmer!"

Hearing the insult, Lance raised an eyebrow. There was no trace of his usual icy demeanor. Instead, he replied in a perfectly flat tone, "Thanks for the compliment."

Damaris was absolutely floored.

Compliment my foot!

Once the bodyguards escorted Damaris back and Nathalie received the text that she had arrived safely, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Today was the day Octavia was going to hypnotize Ken.

Ken was being held in the basement of one of Lance's secondary properties.

When the group arrived, they found Ken looking entirely wrecked. Locked inside a barren room, his hair was matted, his clothes filthy, and his eyes completely devoid of hope.

He had failed his mission and had been captured.

He was fully expecting to die in this room.

Lance looked down at him and spoke in a chillingly calm voice. "If you tell me everything you know right now, I will give you a new identity. The man known as Ken will completely cease to exist, and no one will ever be able to find you."

Ken's dead eyes flickered with a spark of life. His voice was raw and gravelly. "Would you really do that?"

"As long as you give me the absolute truth." Lance stared at him with an impenetrable gaze.

Ken visibly wrestled with the decision, the internal conflict twisting his features.

Ken stared blankly at the swinging watch, his voice drifting out in a slow, robotic monotone. "The heiress of the Winter Family."

The Winter Family?

Nathalie glanced at Lance, a deep confusion pooling in her eyes.

Lance lowered his gaze, his expression unreadable, but he remained silent.

Octavia raised an eyebrow. She clearly knew of the Winter Family, but she had never heard the name Sylvie Winter associated with them.

She proceeded to fire off several more targeted questions regarding Sylvie and the Winter Family's inner workings, and Ken answered every single one without hesitation.

This session went far smoother than Fabian's violent interrogation.

Once the hypnosis was lifted, Ken instantly passed out. When he woke, he would have no memory of the interrogation.

Stepping out of the holding room, Octavia popped a piece of chewing gum into her mouth. "Well, well. I never expected this to tie back to the Winters."

"What kind of family are they?" Nathalie asked.

"They're deeply entrenched in both legitimate and illicit affairs," Octavia explained. "They operate in the shadows, pulling the strings of even the most powerful elites. They're incredibly low-profile, and they haven't made any major moves in years. I've only crossed paths with them a couple of times myself."
