The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 531

“Where is Ken?” Nathalie asked. “What are we doing with him?” Lance replied calmly, “There are plenty of suitable places for him.” She nodded, heading toward the exit of the villa. Lance walked closely beside her, matching her brisk pace effortlessly. His gaze lingered on her, trying to decipher the thoughts hidden behind her stoic expression. After a long moment of silence, he finally broke it. “Your body likes me.” Nathalie froze. “What?” She snapped her head toward him, but the sheer audacity of his words wiped the emotion from her face. She spun around and walked away even faster. Lance let out a low, husky chuckle, his Adam's apple bobbing as he watched her retreating figure. For now, forcing her body to submit to him was the only leverage he had left. His phone suddenly buzzed. It was his assistant, Aaron. “Boss?” Aaron's voice was grim. “Lawrence is gone.” Lance's smirk vanished. “What do you mean, gone?” “The hotel staff went to deliver his lunch, but the room was completely empty. The security cameras were hacked. I sent men to sweep the area, but we came up empty-handed.” Lance's gaze turned dangerously somber. Lawrence had slipped right out from under his nose. The man definitely had inside help; otherwise, pulling off a vanishing act like that would be impossible. “Keep searching covertly. You have to find him,” Lance ordered, his tone laced with absolute authority. Bagot's wedding was only half a month away. They couldn't afford any mistakes during this critical window. If anything went wrong now, their entire plan would crumble. “Also, contact Neely. Have him send men to pin down Lawrence's crew so they don't have time to interfere here,” Lance added sharply. “Understood.” Hanging up, Lance caught up to Nathalie. “Lawrence vanished.” Nathalie turned to him, her eyes widening. “What happened?” “Tell Damaris to stay put for a while. I have people tracking him, but it's going to take time. The wedding is in two weeks. Make sure she doesn't leave her house,” Lance instructed. “Alright,” Nathalie said, slipping into the passenger seat. “I'll go straight to her place.” Damaris had been thrilled to see Nathalie, but the moment the news dropped, all the color drained from her face. “What are we going to do? I feel like I'm being hunted by a literal demon!” Damaris wrapped her arms around herself, looking utterly miserable. “Nathalie, is going through with this wedding really a good idea?” Nathalie's expression was heavy. “I don't know for sure, but right now, it's the only option we have left.” Damaris slumped against the sofa, staring blankly at the wall. “Why did I even go to that bar? If I hadn't gone, I never would have run into him, and none of this would be happening.” She aggressively dragged her hands through her hair. Nathalie reached out, gently pulling her hands down. “Don't do this. What's done is done. All we can do now is try to fix it. Letting this panic eat away at you won't help. Just stay home for the next couple of weeks. Once the wedding is over and he realizes you're legally married, he'll likely back off.” It was a massive gamble. Everything was completely up in the air, and they were banking on a sliver of hope. Damaris threw her arms around Nathalie, desperate for comfort. Nathalie stayed by her side, fully intending to spend the night. But later that evening, Lance showed up at the front door.
