The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 551

Upon arriving at Lumina Grand, Lance carried Jasper into the spacious living room. The butler and several maids were already lined up in waiting. On the sofa, Leda and Nathalie sat with expectant expressions.

Intimidated by the grand reception, Jasper visibly flinched. He instinctively wrapped his thin arms tightly around Lance’s neck and cast a timid glance around the room.

"This is Jasper," Lance announced, directing his words to the butler to establish the boy’s identity. "He’s my nephew, and he will be living here from now on. I expect him to be taken care of properly."

The butler nodded respectfully. "Yes, sir. We will take excellent care of the young master."

With a brief wave of her hand, she dismissed the maids to return to their duties.

Lance carried Jasper over to the sofa and gently set him down. "Call her Great-Grandma," he instructed softly.

Though still terrified, Jasper remembered his manners. "Great-Grandma," he said politely.

A warm, affectionate smile spread across Leda's face. She paused for a moment before nodding. "Good boy. Come here, let Great-Grandma look at you."

Jasper obediently stepped forward, allowing the older woman to gently grasp his hands.

"Why are you so thin? Have you not been eating well?" Leda's heart immediately melted at the sight of the frail boy. "What would you like for lunch? I’ll have the kitchen make all your favorites."

Jasper was a strikingly handsome child, sharing a strong resemblance with Lance, as Lance and his brother had always looked very much alike. But right now, he was skin and bones, his pale little face a clear portrait of severe malnutrition.

This was entirely the result of the toxins ravaging his small body—Lance would never have allowed him to go hungry.

"You're so nice, Great-Grandma. I like you," Jasper murmured.

Children were always straightforward with their affection, and he wasn't lying. He truly liked her. She radiated a gentle, soothing warmth that made him want to stay close.

Leda's reaction was delayed by a few seconds, but soon a bright laugh escaped her lips. "I like you too. We are a family now, and we're going to be great friends, alright?"

She gently shook his little hand.

A bright smile finally broke across Jasper's face—his first real smile in a very long time.
