Every single day, Nathalie asked Lance if there was any news on Damaris, and every single day, the answer remained a frustrating negative.
The lack of control fueled a deep, unsettling panic in her chest, but there was absolutely nothing she could do to speed up the process.
She channeled her anxiety into grueling physical training, desperate to become stronger.
One afternoon, right after an exhausting workout, she stepped out of the elevator and spotted a group of people walking through the main entrance.
Sophia was carefully supporting Adelaide on one side, but on the other side... was Freddy?
What the hell was he doing here?
Nathalie’s brows instantly knit together in hostility. She marched straight over and demanded, "Why are you here?"
Sophia quickly chimed in. "Nathalie, I took Grandma out for a walk and we bumped into Freddy. Grandma started chatting with him, and then he offered to walk us back."
Freddy pushed his glasses up his nose. "Nathalie, can we talk?"
Adelaide beamed, thoroughly enjoying the company. "Yes, you two should talk, have a good chat. I'm feeling a bit tired, so I'll go rest. Take your time, kids."
Nathalie was speechless.
As Sophia guided Adelaide toward her bedroom, she shot Nathalie a nervous, helpless glance.
Nathalie offered her a reassuring smile to signal that everything was fine.
She then turned a frosty glare on Freddy. "Let’s step outside."
Once they were out of Lumina Grand and walking along the sidewalk, Freddy glanced at her profile. "You've changed a lot."
Nathalie remained guarded and entirely unimpressed. "I thought you wanted to talk?"
Freddy let out a soft sigh. "I strongly believe there’s been a massive misunderstanding between us. During our last call, I had absolutely no idea what you were talking about, so I came here specifically to clear the air."
