Nathalie stood quietly by the side, watching the examination unfold.

A maid approached quietly. "Ma'am, there is a Mr. Freddy at the door requesting to see you."

Nathalie turned in surprise. He was back already?

Did he really find the truth that fast?

Hearing the name, Lance immediately snapped his head in her direction. His eyes darkened dangerously. "What does Freddy want with you?"

Nathalie offered a slight shrug. "I have no idea. I guess I'll find out when I see him."

She turned and headed for the front door.

Lance instinctively moved to follow her, but small fingers suddenly clamped onto his sleeve. "Uncle, I'm scared."

Jasper’s face was completely drained of color. He was staring at the doctor with sheer terror.

No child liked going to the doctor.

Looking down at the trembling boy, Lance's heart softened. He stayed rooted to the spot, though his eyes darted nervously toward the front door.

Freddy had been completely off the radar for a while, and Lance had assumed the man was finally out of the picture. He certainly hadn't expected him to pop right back up the second his guard was down!
