The Unwavering Heart That Broke novel Chapter 56

Bagot felt completely lost. “Wait, but why? If she didn’t do it, why would she admit it?”

Lance’s Adam’s apple bobbed. For a moment, he couldn’t even get a word out.

Bagot scratched his head, genuinely confused. He just couldn’t figure out why Nathalie would confess to something like this.

It wasn’t going to do her any good.

She’d get a bad reputation, the Adams family would want nothing to do with her, and the Blair family would be furious. Bagot didn’t even want to think about what would happen to her next.

“So, we need to find proof that she’s innocent,” Lance finally said, his voice rough and low.

“Yes, we have to find evidence,” Bagot agreed firmly. “Lance, I’m with you on this.”

Lance just nodded.

...

At the hospital.

By the time Leda arrived, Jasper had already been brought out of the emergency room.

Camilla gave a quick update. “Jasper’s okay, thank goodness. Someone caught him, so he wasn’t badly hurt. He just has a little concussion. A few days of rest and he’ll be fine.”

Leda’s heart ached. She grabbed Jasper’s hand, her voice full of worry. “My poor great-grandson. It was supposed to be your birthday, and now this happens.”

She turned to Camilla and her tone instantly cooled. “Nathalie already admitted she did it. I told her she needs to divorce Lance, and Daniel agreed.”

Camilla’s eyes widened in disbelief. “What? That can’t be true!”

“Why not? She said it herself,” Leda said with a skeptical look. “What, you think she’s lying?”

Camilla just stood there, anxious and completely at a loss. In her eyes, Nathalie could be stubborn, but never cruel.

Camilla forced herself to stay calm. “I’m not against the divorce, but Lance can’t be with Felice. Nathalie would never recover from that.”

“She did this to herself, you know,” Daniel said with a cold stare. “If she hadn’t been so determined to break up, I never would’ve thought about any of this in the first place.”

He looked at Camilla, his expression all mixed up. “After all, our family owes Felice. We should do whatever we can for her sake.”

Camilla’s lips trembled, but in the end, she couldn’t say a single word.

Just outside, someone quietly turned away. A sly, satisfied smile curled on their lips.

Late at night, the hospital room door opened again. Lance stepped inside, the chill practically radiating off him.

Felice was fast asleep by the side of the bed. Leda had already left, and the room was silent.

But the little one on the bed opened his eyes. When he saw Lance, his lip wobbled, and he looked like he was about to burst into tears.
