"You might not hurt her, but someone else will."
As Lance spoke, he shot a pointed glance at Olivia, whose face was already pale and drawn.
Hearing this, Olivia looked even worse.
Freddy's tone turned dead serious. "I guarantee that she will never do anything to hurt Nathalie again. I will keep her strictly in line."
"You never truly know what's in someone's heart. How can you guarantee her thoughts won't change?" Lance pushed aggressively, fixing Olivia with a bone-chilling stare.
Olivia turned a shade paler.
Freddy's frown tightened. Lance was making it abundantly clear that he didn't want him speaking to Nathalie alone.
All of this was just a flimsy excuse; the truth was simply Lance's overbearing possessiveness.
Freddy looked to Nathalie, silently urging her to make the call.
If she agreed, Lance couldn't exactly stop her.
Though honestly, Freddy still couldn't figure out exactly where they stood with each other.
Lance kept up a façade of cool indifference, but out of the corner of his eye, he monitored Nathalie's reactions.
He had already laid down his veto.
What would she do?
Nathalie hadn't expected to still be caught in this awkward tug-of-war after the matter was officially settled.
She looked at Freddy and saw the genuine, apologetic warmth in his eyes, as if he had things he desperately needed to say.
After a few seconds of hesitation, she nodded. "Alright."
The heavy tension between Freddy's brows eased slightly. He cast a fleeting glance at Lance before turning to Nathalie. "Let's go. We can take a walk downstairs and talk."
"Okay."
The two of them walked out of the room, one after the other.
She refused to accept this!
Lance just didn't know her well enough yet. He hadn't seen her true value. She just needed to try harder, push herself to be right in front of him so he would finally realize she was a million times better than Nathalie!
...
The weather was beautiful today. The sun was shining brightly, the sky a brilliant blue with drifting clouds, and a gentle breeze swept away the summer heat.
"I'm sorry."
Freddy opened with another apology, a deep sigh of resignation coloring his words. "I truly had no idea about this. It's my fault you lived in fear for so long."
Nathalie lowered her gaze. "You didn't do it, so you don't need to apologize."
She paused before adding, "That being said, I can't just brush it off. You may not have done it, but your sister did. Our friendship upsets her. So, Freddy, I think it's best if we stop contacting each other."
This incident had made it crystal clear to her that Olivia was a ticking time bomb.
