The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 595

Seeing the hesitation on her face, Lance took her hand and gently pulled her onto the sofa. "Staying cooped up in the house all day is bound to make your mind race," he said in a calm, even tone. "Getting out and changing the scenery will do you good."

Nathalie frowned, her brow knitting together. "But is it really a good idea to leave right now?"

Lance nodded firmly. "I say it is, so it is. Just pick one. You've been wound too tight lately, and besides, there won't be any news on Sylvie Winter for a while."

Nathalie lowered her gaze to the folder in her hands, flipping through the options.

There was a route through the desert, one across the sprawling grasslands, and another deep into a pristine forest.

She scanned them quickly before looking back up at him. "Why are these all in the middle of nowhere?"

"Reconnecting with nature is good for the soul," Lance replied, a faint smile on his lips. "It'll give you a sense of space and completely untangle your nerves."

Nathalie looked at the pages again, falling silent for a long moment before finally saying, "Let's go to the desert, then."

"Done."

Lance nodded. "I'll handle the arrangements. You go let Grandma know."

Nathalie asked, "Are we not taking Grandma and Jasper?"

"No," Lance replied, shaking his head. "Just the two of us."

He paused, tightening his grip on her hand. "Can I consider this making up for our honeymoon? After the wedding, I got completely buried in corporate work, and we never got a proper one."

Nathalie instantly pulled her hand away, her voice turning cold. "If that's your angle, then never mind. We don't need to go."

Lance fell silent.

A miscalculation.
