Bagot's expression turned entirely serious. "Then you have to find the best doctors in the world. You have to get this fixed."
He scanned the room and asked in confusion, "Where's Nathalie?"
"What do you want with me?"
An emotionless, robotic female voice sounded from behind him, strange and unfamiliar.
Bagot turned around and met Nathalie's clear gaze. She had just returned from outside, carrying a small bag. She held her phone, which was clearly the source of the voice.
Bagot immediately stood up, his relaxed demeanor instantly morphing into awkward stiffness. "Nathalie, I heard you and Lance both got hurt, so I came to check on you."
He studied her carefully before adding, "Thank goodness you look okay. It's just Lance's eyes now. He'll really need you to take care of him from now on."
Nathalie looked down and typed. "My vocal cords are ruined."
"Oh..."
Bagot froze completely, a wave of profound regret crashing over him. He wanted to slap himself.
What kind of garbage had he just been spouting?!
Someone save him!
Lance's voice cut through the awkwardness, laced with a chilling edge. "Do you have any other business?"
Bagot swallowed hard. "N-No."
"Then get out," Lance ordered ruthlessly. "You're an eyesore."
Bagot was speechless.
He slapped on a pitiful expression, hoping to appeal to Lance's sympathy, only to remember the man's face was wrapped in bandages.
Bagot mentally cursed himself.
"Alright, I'm taking off. Call me if you need anything," he said, dying of embarrassment.
"Wait."
The robotic voice stopped him.
