The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 655

"Stop bringing up your precious 'Lance' every two seconds. This is between me and Nat. What does he have to do with it?" Nicol shot him an annoyed look. "What? Can't you live without him?"

Bagot glared back. "What kind of attitude is that? Lance and Nathalie are a family. They're married. You, a bodyguard, just start calling her 'Nat' like you're her buddy? Does that mean Lance has to treat you like family too? Does that make any sense?"

"We each have our own relationships!" Nicol retorted. "At the end of the day, I'm closer to Nat anyway. Besides, she's going to divorce him eventually. What kind of marriage is that? It's none of my business."

Bagot gritted his teeth. "You really don't know when to shut up. I should sew your mouth shut."

Nicol chuckled. "Oh? The rich kid knows how to sew now? Planning to mend clothes for your future wife?"

Bagot's fists clenched in frustration.

Aaron cleared his throat. "Let's put the bickering on hold. Bagot, Nicol, we're relying on you to keep Mrs. Adams safe. Prioritize safety, then try to persuade Elara Lane."

"Don't worry." Bagot turned serious, looking at the man with the bandaged eyes. "Lance, I won't let you down."

Lance offered a faint smile. "You never do. Let's eat."

Nathalie frowned. He called her? She hadn't heard a thing! She traced letters on his palm.

[I'm fine. Let's go back.]

"I don't want to lie down anymore," Lance said. "I want to take a walk. Will you walk with me?"

Nathalie's eyelashes fluttered. She wrote an agreement on his hand. Back in the room, she grabbed a jacket, draped it over his shoulders, and supported him as they headed out. His chest wound was healing, and his color was better, but a few days in bed had left him weak. He leaned most of his weight against her.
