The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 671

Chapter 671

“But I want to spend a little more time with you.”

Lance tightened his grip on her hand, turning toward her, his voice dripping with affection.

Nathalie furrowed her brows. She pulled her hand free, pulled out her phone, and typed rapidly. A cold, robotic female voice echoed from the device, “Getting your eyes checked is the most important thing right now.”

“I know,” Lance muttered, slightly lowering his head. He added quietly, “Nat, you’re being so mean ”

Nathalie stared at him in disbelief.

Mean?

How was she being mean?

He was acting completely unreasonable!

She continued typing. “Lance, are you out of your mind? When was I ever mean to you?”

Even without any tone from the app, Lance could perfectly picture the exasperated, annoyed look on her beautiful face.

A faint smile tugged at his lips. “You stopped writing on my palm. If that isn’t mean, what is?”

Nathalie was speechless.

She was wasting her time talking to him!

She spun around and headed for the door, intending to call Elara Lane back in.

But the moment she pulled the door open, Elara was standing right there. The young doctor blinked her innocent eyes, looking like the picture of perfect obedience.

Nathalie felt a sudden flush of embarrassment. She cleared her throat softly and pointed back into the room.

Elara strolled in, looking completely baffled. “You guys are done being lovey-dovey already?”

Nathalie didn’t know how to respond.

Oblivious to the awkwardness, Elara continued, “I thought you’d want to be glued to each other for at least a little longer. I was about to go watch a movie.”

Nathalie let out a silent sigh.

That was enough.

She needed to stop talking!

Besides, Elara had the completely wrong idea. Nathalie and Lance didn’t have some profound, unbreakable bond right now, and there was certainly no ‘lovey-dovey’ dynamic going on.

“Hello,” Elara said directly as she approached the bed. “I’m Elara Lane. You can call me Dr. Lane, just like everyone else does.”

Lance instantly reverted to his cold, aloof demeanor. “Hello”

Elara scoffed softly. “Well, aren’t you frosty? Come on, let me take a look at those eyes”

She reached out to remove the bandages from his face.

Lance dodged her touch, his brow furrowing, “Where are the other doctors?”

“Oh, so you don’t trust me?” Elara crossed her arms, letting out a short laugh. “Nathalie trusts me. Are you saying you don’t?”

Lance tilted his head slightly. “Nat?”

Nathalie walked over, took his hand, and traced the letters on his palm.

– [She did an acupuncture session on me, and I purged some of the toxins. It actually helped.]

Lance raised an eyebrow. He curled his fingers, enveloping her small hand in his, and asked softly, “How do you feel now? Are you still in pain?”

“Do you think I’m a miracle worker?” Elara interjected. “Healing takes time. The fact that she’s already showing results is amazing enough. I’ll definitely have her vocal cords fully recovered soon.”

There was a hint of pride in her voice, a testament to the absolute confidence she had in her medical
