Chapter 676
Nathalie sat there holding the warm bowl of tonic. Looking at Lance’s vulnerable state, a suffocating wave of despair washed over her, gripping her heart like a vice.
The heavy guilt made it hard to breathe.
She set the bowl down on the nightstand, picked up her phone, and quickly typed. The robotic female voice immediately echoed through the room: “Don’t worry, I won’t leave you. Not until your eyes are healed.”
She knew exactly what was eating away at him.
With Madonna returning, a confrontation was inevitable. His mother would try every trick in the book to force her away.
But as things stood, she truly couldn’t leave.
Lance had lost his sight because of her. If she just walked away now, she would be no better than a
monster.
“Drink your medicine,” she typed, setting the phone down.
She picked up the bowl again and gently pressed it into his waiting hands.
Lance pursed his pale lips, not uttering another word as he drank the bitter tonic in one long gulp.
Nathalie grabbed a tissue, carefully dabbed the stray drops from the corner of his mouth, and then took the empty bowl outside.
Elara was leaning against the nurses’ station, gossiping while keeping one ear tuned to the room. When she heard the door open, she turned and looked at Nathalie in surprise. “That was fast?”
Nathalie blinked at her in confusion.
Elara couldn’t help but laugh. “Back in my village, when the stubborn old grandpas refuse their medicine, their wives have to coax them like little kids. A few sweet words, and the grandpas are happy enough to down the whole bowl.”
She leaned in closer, a teasing grin on her face. “Were you just coaxing him in there? Though, honestly, he doesn’t really look like the type to be afraid of drinking medicine.”
Nathalie was speechless.
Uh…
She definitely hadn’t expected Elara’s imagination to run wild like that.
But thinking about it… wasn’t it basically the same thing?
Lance had desperately needed an answer. She gave it to him, and it calme
Yeah. He actually was pretty easy to coax.
Elara proceeded to perform acupunctu quiet, everyone’s attention

Chapter 676
Once she finished with him, she moved on to Nathalie.
As she worked, Elara couldn’t help but suggest, “Hey, do you guys want to just share a room? It’s kind of a pain for me to keep running back and forth between two different wards.”
“I have no objections, Lance stated immediately.
Nathalie rolled her eyes internally.
Of course you don’t!
You’ve been waiting for this exact moment!
She nodded, silently agreeing to Elara’s proposal.
Aaron, who had been standing by, immediately stepped up. “I’ll go make the arrangements.”
Nathalie quickly pulled out her phone. “Put a second bed next to his.”
Aaron paused.
Elara burst into laughter. “Why? Aren’t you two married? Why not just share one bed?”
