The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 741

Chapter 741

Chapter 741

“Sorry, I just wanted some water.”

Lance heard footsteps approaching, keeping his head bowed as he spoke.

Nathalie felt a suffocating wave of despair. She walked over, pulled him away, and immediately called the staff to clean up the mess.

They sat on the other side of the room to eat.

Nathalie typed on her phone, “If you want something done, just ring for

the staff.”

Lance stayed silent for a long time before replying, “I just wanted to see if I’ve truly become entirely useless.”

He let out a low, self-deprecating laugh. “Sure enough, have.”

The atmosphere in the dining room grew oppressive, clinging to them like damp, suffocating weather.

Nathalie held her phone, watching his desolate expression, unable to find the right words.

Lance turned his head slightly in her direction. “Let’s eat. I’m hungry.”

Nathalie put down her phone and picked up her silverware to serve him

some food.

Outside the dining room, Elara Lane took in the entire scene. She scoffed and returned to Adelaide’s side, whispering, “He really is a scheming man. Putting on a pitiful act just to win her sympathy.”

Adelaide raised a surprised eyebrow. “You really have a lot of hostility

toward him.”

Elara looked dead serious. “Nathalie has suffered so much, and all that

pain was brought on by him. Whenever I think about it, I can’t bring

myself to give him a single good look.”

Adelaide sighed helplessly and shook her head. “Just keep your complaints behind his back. Don’t say anything reckless to his face-you’re still cashing his paychecks.”

Elara nodded. “Yeah, I know. I’d never pick a fight with my money.”

During his evening therapy session, Elara adjusted the treatment plan. Lance felt a sharp sting.

His expression darkened. “I suspect you’re trying to assassinate me.”

Elara’s mouth twitched. “Even if I wanted to kill you, it wouldn’t be an assassination. This is broad daylight.”

Lance immediately called out, “Nathalie, she’s trying to kill me.”

Elara was deeply annoyed. “Enough. You call for her all day long. Anyone would think you couldn’t survive a single minute without her.”

Lance replied flatly, “That is entirely accurate.

Elara was speechless.

Why did she even bother talking to him? What was she supposed to do with such a shameless jerk?

Nathalie typed on her phone, “Why does he feel pain?”

Elara patiently explained, “He had nerve pain before. I researched some older medical texts and adjusted the stimulation method. We’re testing it out to see if it stops the pain.”

Nathalie nodded in understanding.

When the session ended, Elara asked, “Does it still hurt?”

Lance focused for a moment before answering, “Because Nathalie is right beside me, it doesn’t hurt.”

Elara rolled her eyes, completely done with him.

Chapter 741

She grabbed her medical kit and turned on her heel, not wanting to stay in that room for another second.

Nathalie felt helpless. She typed, “Could you be a little more serious? The more you act like this, the more she’s going to target you.”

Lance answered smoothly, “The more she targets me, the more I’ll act like this.”

Nathalie was left speechless by his childishness.

Her herbal prescription was ready. Nathalie went downstairs to drink it. The bitter taste was so overwhelming that her face scrunched up.

Elara had already prepared some sweet oranges. The moment Nathalie finished the medicine, Elara held a slice to her lips. Nathalie took a bite, the sweet citrus washing away the bitter aftertaste, and her brow finally

relaxed.
