Nathalie pulled out her phone and used the text-to-speech app, letting the robotic voice speak for her. “He’ll be fine, Octavia. Try not to worry too much.”

It was meant as a comfort, but the truth was, none of them had any idea what was really going on.

Especially considering the kind of monster Lawrence was. If Bagot had managed to track him down, only to be captured, the consequences would be a waking nightmare.

Bagot marching onto Lawrence’s turf was a direct provocation.

Lawrence was an absolute psychopath. There was no telling what he might do.

Octavia frowned deeply. “I’m not terribly worried. Honestly, it’s about time life taught him a lesson. My parents sheltered him way too much, and he’s been dangerously naive for far too long.”

Nathalie offered a sympathetic smile but didn’t say anything.

Octavia turned back to Lance. “You seriously haven’t heard a single thing?”

“Why would I lie to you?” Lance replied flatly.

“Ugh… fine. Just let me know the second you get an update.” Octavia stood up and flashed Nathalie a warm smile. “I’ve got to run. Tons of things to handle today.”

Nathalie stood up. “I’ll. Walk. You.”

Octavia nodded, not turning down the polite gesture.

As they strolled out of Lumina Grand together, Octavia let out a heavy sigh. “Why isn’t Jasper

around?”

Nathalie typed her response. “Madonna and Mr. Adams picked him up.”

Octavia nodded slowly. “It’s good for him to spend time with his grandparents. The poor kid has been through enough.”
