The project manager glanced at the voice director and said, “Alright, it’s just a villain role. If Lance thinks she’s right for it, then let her have it. The spotlight’s still on the lead, isn’t it?”
The voice director pressed his lips together, clearly unhappy, but he didn’t say anything more. He was only in charge of voice work. Whether this project moved forward or not depended on the investor’s mood. If Lance got upset and pulled the plug, there wouldn’t be anything he could do about it.
He turned to his assistant. “Get another contract ready.”
The assistant nodded. “Okay.”
When Nathalie and Felice stepped outside, the manager hurried over to congratulate them.
Felice looked completely shocked. She pointed at herself. “You’re giving me the role of Daisy? But… I don’t think I’m right for it.”
Lance just smiled. “I actually think you’re perfect. Didn’t you say you wanted to get back into work? Here’s your chance to pick up some experience.”
Felice smiled too, but then glanced at Nathalie before shaking her head. “Lance, this isn’t fair. Nathalie got this chance with her own skills. If you just hand the role to me, it’s not right for her.”
Lance glanced at Nathalie. “What do you think?”
Nathalie ignored him. She just turned and walked away, not looking back.
As long as they didn’t take the lead role away from her, nothing else mattered.
Felice’s eyes darted. “Lance, just forget about it, okay? Nathalie already thinks there’s something going on between us… If you do this, there’s no way to clear things up.”
Lance didn’t answer. He just kept staring at Nathalie’s back as she walked off.
She really had no objections.
Nathalie settled at her new desk, turned on her computer, checked her email, and slipped on her headphones to start watching.
On the other side of the room, Felice was brought to her own desk. She glanced around, then took out her phone and ordered fruit tea.
A little while later, the drinks were delivered. With a soft, friendly smile, she called out to everyone, “Hi, I’m Felice, just joined the team. Hope we can get along. I brought some fruit tea for everyone, so grab whatever you like.”
A few people immediately got up to help themselves, crowding around Felice and saying nice things.
Felice kept up her gentle, elegant smile, but her eyes drifted to Nathalie. She picked up a cup of fruit tea and walked over.
“Nathalie.”
She set the drink down on Nathalie’s desk and called her name softly.
