The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 251

The doorbell rang.

Chloe was holding Yuri. She had barely cracked the door open when the person outside pushed his way in without a word.

"What's with that expression? Are you disappointed or surprised to see me?"

Preston's gaze swept past her, quickly scanning the interior of the apartment.

"How did you get up here? I'm calling security," Chloe said, reaching out to block him.

Preston sidestepped her. "I'm a resident."

He even took his time changing his shoes, then unceremoniously walked further inside.

"You're trespassing!"

"Trespassing?" Preston didn't break his stride. "Did you forget we aren't divorced yet?"

He looked around as if searching for something, checking every corner and casually pulling open the curtains.

Only when he was certain there was no one else in the apartment did his cold, tense features finally soften.

"What exactly do you want?"

Chloe was furious, her knuckles turning white as she clenched her fists.

To her, this apartment in Oceanview Heights was her only remaining sanctuary, the only place she could find peace.

Now, Preston had invaded this safe haven too.

She was utterly exhausted and on the verge of breaking down.

"Is it a crime to worry about you?"

Preston seemed genuinely confused as to why she was angry again.

"Get out!"

Chloe grabbed a throw pillow and hurled it at him with all her might.

Preston dodged it. "Chloe?"

"Get out!"

She grabbed a water glass next and threw it viciously.

A dull thud echoed through the room.

Preston didn't dodge.

Blood trickled slowly down his smooth, handsome forehead.

"..."

He froze, staring unblinkingly at Chloe.

"Get out!"

Chloe was near collapse, her entire body shaking uncontrollably.

"Okay, I'm leaving. I'll go..."

Preston finally realized she wasn't joking around.

Why had everything suddenly changed?

Ken's gaze landed on Preston's face, and he rushed forward in alarm.

"Mr. Hayes, what happened to your forehead? Have you been to the hospital to get that checked?"

Preston irritably rubbed his temple. The sharp sting of pain made him frown, only adding to his annoyance.

"It's nothing."

What a heartless woman.

An entire night had passed, and she hadn't called or even sent a single text message.

She didn't care about his injury at all.

"It looks pretty serious. You really should go to the hospital..." Ken insisted, worried.

Preston stood up. "I do need to go to the hospital, but not right now."

Ken was confused. "What do you mean?"

Preston didn't elaborate. He simply took long strides and walked out of the office.

When the car rolled to a stop, he belatedly realized he had subconsciously driven to Oceanview Heights again.

Ever since he found out Chloe lived here, he found himself helplessly drawn to this place.

The weather was nice today.
