The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 297

It clearly wasn't the first time Andrea had delivered this speech.

Under her skilled instigation, the entire table now glared at Chloe with blatant hostility.

The atmosphere grew painfully awkward.

The girl with glasses forced a smile, trying to defuse the tension.

But Andrea sneered at her. "Some people are so desperate they'll suck up to anyone, even a nepotism hire! You're all the same!"

"People like that don't belong at the Institute! When next month's evaluations come around, I'm reporting her directly to management!"

The girl swallowed the words she had been about to say.

Under the piercing stares of the crowd, she felt her cheeks burn, her palms slick with sweat.

Eventually, she grabbed her tray and practically fled.

She didn't even dare meet Chloe's eyes as she left.

Andrea's triumphant laughter rang out behind them.

She reassured her audience, "Don't worry, as long as I'm here, I won't let this injustice stand."

Someone asked, "What are you going to do?"

Andrea lifted her chin haughtily. "Do you have any idea who my mentor was? Do you think I learned nothing working by her side? My connections are beyond anything you could imagine!"

"All it takes is one formal complaint, and she'll be packing her bags with her tail between her legs!"

The person still seemed hesitant. "But she's Mr. Shaw's assistant. Aren't you worried about crossing him?"

At the mention of Quentin, Andrea's face darkened, her glare at Chloe turning venomous.

"Mr. Shaw isn't like that! She must have tricked him!"

"Dr. Liana Sharpe is visiting next week. She was my mentor's mentor, and she has zero tolerance for incompetence. Once I take this to her, she definitely won't let it slide!"

The crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief, eagerly agreeing.

"That's amazing!"

"Andrea, you're incredible! Only you have access to VIPs like that!"

Chloe acted as if she hadn't heard a word, finishing the last piece of beef on her plate before standing up and leaving.

Seeing that Chloe hadn't said a word in her own defense, Andrea was fully convinced she was an easy target, her laughter growing even more smug.

Chloe returned to her office.

She unlocked her phone and downloaded Twitter.

After logging in, the app took an eternity to load her feed.

Her direct messages were maxed out, thousands of notifications flooding her screen in an overwhelming wave.

Chloe opened the drafting page and began typing.

Just then, Quentin called.

She answered, ready to take notes. "Go ahead."

But Quentin wasn't calling to issue orders.

"If you need any help, just ask. Saving you from unnecessary trouble is part of a boss's job."

Chloe's pen paused. She quickly caught on.

"Mr. Shaw, I've never had a boss quite like you. Why are you always so eager to take on extra responsibilities?"
