The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 394

"Nothing. I just think it's a ridiculous guess. Chloe and Caroline have absolutely nothing in common. How could they possibly be the same person?"

Lucian realized that his sister had always idolized Caroline Monet, and she clearly despised Chloe. It made sense that she'd be upset hearing him make such a comparison.

He spoke to her gently, "I'm sorry, I was just talking nonsense. Don't be mad. After we eat, I'll take you shopping to cheer you up."

But Isabella looked up, her gaze probing. "Lucian, are you close with her?"

Lucian blinked. "Who?"

"Chloe," Isabella pressed. "I noticed you were smiling when you mentioned her. Do you have feelings for her?"

Lucian frowned. "Of course not."

Isabella's tone grew stubborn. "Then stay away from her. I've told you before, she's manipulative and dangerous."

Hearing her speak about Chloe that way made Lucian feel inexplicably uncomfortable.

But he didn't dwell on the strange feeling, continuing to comfort her patiently.

"Alright, I know you're just looking out for me. How could I ignore my sister's advice?"

"Stop overthinking it. Let's go try the fresh king crab and Maine lobster, and then I'll take you out."

Isabella turned her head away, sulking. "I don't want to go shopping. I don't care about jewelry."

Lucian smiled. "Then let's go to the auction. There's something you've been wanting at the upcoming exhibition."

Isabella's heart leaped, instantly knowing what he was talking about.

It was a long dress she had fallen in love with at first sight, designed by her father, Master Sylvain.

She had once subtly hinted that she wanted it, but he had dismissed her with three cold words:

"It's not suitable."

Isabella knew that every single dress he designed was meant for his biological daughter.

She had thought that, after all these years, they would have built some kind of familial bond.

But he still refused to treat her like a real daughter.
