Preston didn't hold back at all. He sat directly across from Chloe, his dark eyes locked onto her. "Aren't you going to introduce us?"
Chloe looked at his icy expression and suddenly found it hilarious.
They were about to get divorced, so what kind of act was he putting on now?
She didn't want to cause a scene, so she gave a brief introduction for Quentin. "This is Mr. Shaw, a friend of mine."
When she turned to Preston, her tone turned instantly flat, intentionally distant as she added for Quentin's benefit, "This is Mr. Hayes of Vantage Group, and the woman next to him is his female buddy, Miss Cameron."
Preston kept his gaze fixed on her. "Aren't you going to explain our relationship?"
"Just regular friends," Chloe said coldly.
Preston's face instantly darkened. He was about to retort when Jenna grabbed a menu and interrupted.
"Preston, what do you want to drink? Your grandparents love me too much and made me eat so much breakfast. I'm so stuffed, I need a fruit and veggie juice to help digest."
Swallowing his hostility, Preston ordered for her.
When the waiter brought their drinks, Preston reached over, took the coffee from in front of Chloe, and replaced it with a glass of fruit and veggie juice.
"Your stomach was acting up this morning. Cut back on the coffee."
Chloe stared at the juice—identical to Jenna's—and her eyes dimmed.
Oblivious to her reaction, Preston shifted his attention to Quentin, who was typing away on his laptop.
"What line of work are you in, Mr. Shaw, that keeps you so busy?"
"Translation," Quentin answered smoothly.
Preston let out a soft scoff. "I see."
Chloe gripped the edge of the table, her tone hard. "Preston, if you don't have anything else to say, you can leave now."
Preston leaned back in his chair, his posture lazy but oppressive, offering a challenging smirk. "It's a public place. I can sit wherever I want. Or am I interrupting something?"
