Normally, Preston was incredibly picky about his food, but he must have been truly starving tonight.
He cleared every last bite off his plate. After dinner, he wandered around the house.
The rustic, dimly lit brick house was surprisingly spotless and well-organized. As he casually looked around, he made a mental note of everything the house lacked and texted Ken a massive shopping list.
The moment Chloe headed upstairs, he followed closely behind, slipping into the bedroom right before she could lock the door.
"Preston, what exactly do you think you're doing?"
Startled, Chloe tried to pry his hands off her waist.
"Let go! Why are you still here? Get out!" Preston's strength was overwhelming. With one arm, he effortlessly lifted her and pressed her back against the edge of the bed, burying his face in the crook of her neck.
He had just washed up with cold water, yet his skin still radiated that crisp, intoxicating cologne that flooded her senses, making it hard to breathe.
"Chloe, you're so cruel."
"We only have two and a half days left. Are you really going to divorce me?"
His voice echoed in the dark room, his tone unreadable, yet the oppressive weight of his presence made it hard to breathe.
Chloe lowered her eyes, remaining silent.
The next second, Preston's jaw tightened. He leaned forward, forcing her back onto the mattress, using his body weight to trap her completely between his arms and the bed, leaving her absolutely no avenue of escape.
His presence enveloped her, heavy with an undeniable, suffocating possessiveness.
"Chloe, let's have a baby."
His kisses were heavy and searing, leaving trails of fire across her cheeks and neck. She fought back frantically, kicking, pushing, and striking his chest with everything she had.
"Get off me! I don't want this!"
"Why?"
His gentle demeanor was nothing more than a carefully crafted mask. Stripped of his polite restraint, his dark eyes gleamed with an almost obsessive, frantic intensity.
"Why don't you want this? Is it because of him?"
With one hand, he forcefully pinned both of her wrists above her head. His knee aggressively parted her legs, while his other hand slid under the hem of her shirt, roughly tugging at her buttons.
"Chloe, you promised you would only love me. You swore you would love me forever!"
Preston looked down at her, his eyes blazing like a predator in the dark. He stared at her face, looking as though he absolutely refused to let her go tonight. Chloe felt her whole body go rigid under his gaze.
"Preston, you..."
Before she could finish, he leaned down and captured her lips again. This time, there was no brute force. Instead, his touch was agonizingly patient. His cool fingertips traced her skin inch by inch, exploring and guiding with an irresistible seduction, tangling her senses until there was nowhere left to hide.
Chloe desperately tried to resist, pressing her hands hard against his chest. But her body betrayed her, trembling uncontrollably as every inch of her skin flushed with a strange, intoxicating heat under his touch.
A wave of humiliating shame washed over her. The harder she fought, the more her body yielded to him. "Get out... if you want a baby so badly, go have one with Jenna..."
Preston buried his face in her hair, his nose brushing against her ear. His breath was scorching hot, his tone dripping with a dangerous, restrained warning.
"Provoking me won't end well for you, Chloe."
Just then, a shrill ringtone shattered the tension, violently interrupting him. He hung up, but the phone instantly buzzed with a relentless barrage of text messages.
Preston frowned in irritation and was finally forced to answer the call.
Jenna's voice came through crystal clear, thick with tears.
"Preston, I wanted to come find you, but I'm lost... I can't find my way back, and my phone is about to die..."
