The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 72

"Then I'll just have to make sure you're not an officer anymore."

"Ah!"

Just as Jeremiah let out his first agonized scream, a woman's frantic shriek pierced the air from behind them.

"Jeremiah! Preston, stop! He's my brother!"

After Preston had taken the call and stormed out with a lethal look on his face, Jenna had been forced to call a cab and follow him. Arriving to see this brutal scene, she was completely stunned.

Jeremiah was equally shell-shocked. A sickening chill crept up his spine. Was this terrifying, ruthless man standing in front of him actually his future brother-in-law?

Jenna rushed forward, desperately grabbing Preston's arm. "Preston, there has to be some sort of misunderstanding!"

Sensing a lifeline, Jeremiah scrambled to pull the documents from his briefcase. "Yes! A complete misunderstanding! The Green Mountain Tourism Project is a massive development for the county! The property owners signed the paperwork themselves. We only started digging after that!"

Preston snatched the paperwork, scanning it with a deepening frown.

"As for that woman..." Jeremiah started to make an excuse, but his eyes suddenly lit up. He pointed directly behind Preston. "There she is! She's right there!"

Chloe had just stepped out of a vehicle. Seeing the group gathered before her, she froze. In a fraction of a second, the horrifying reality clicked into place. Her heart plunged into an icy abyss, quickly replaced by a tidal wave of pure hatred.

No wonder. No wonder this crew had the audacity to come back before the sun was even up. Jeremiah Gordon was Jenna's brother. Because Jenna meant so much to Preston, his influence and protection naturally extended to her arrogant family!

Preston quickly closed the distance between them. He grabbed her shoulders tightly, his eyes scanning her up and down, his voice thick with anxiety. "Chloe, are you hurt?"

She violently shoved his hands away.
