The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 95

Oceanview Heights.

The most luxurious oceanfront high-rise in Sterling Bay, where every square foot was worth its weight in gold.

Taking in the sleek, understated luxury of her new apartment, Chloe hesitated.

"Maybe I should pay you some rent for this."

Quentin Shaw walked in behind her, casually carrying her luggage. "No need. All you have to do is take good care of the dog."

Chloe looked around the massive, sun-drenched living room. "What dog?"

Right on cue, Ethan Hill stepped out from one of the bedrooms holding a pet carrier. Soft, tiny whines echoed from inside.

Chloe hurried over, peering through the mesh. "Oh my goodness, is this a newborn puppy?"

Ethan froze slightly, shooting a guilty, panicked look at Quentin.

Quentin didn't bat an eye. "Yes. A friend of mine has had the mother for years, and she just had a litter. They need someone attentive to look after it."

Looking at the soft, fluffy little furball, Chloe couldn't resist reaching out a finger to gently stroke it.

The tiny puppy shifted, nuzzling its warm, soft little head against her finger before curling into a tight ball and falling fast asleep.

Instantly, Chloe's heart melted completely.

Quentin watched her. "It seems he really likes you."

Chloe's eyes curved into a bright smile. "I'll do my absolute best to take care of him."

"By the way, what's his name?"

"Yuri. It means healing."

"Perfect. Hi, little Yuri~"

Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, the ocean sparkled against the blue sky. Skyscrapers stood silently in the distance, and seagulls drifted peacefully on the breeze.

Quentin stood quietly, captivated by the soft smile playing on Chloe's lips. The warm sunlight danced across her long eyelashes. She was genuinely finding peace with this tiny creature.

Without realizing it, a soft smile touched his own lips.

Since Chloe only planned to stay in the country for another three weeks or so, she didn't have much to unpack. By the time everything was settled, it was exactly five-thirty.

She had originally planned to take Quentin out to dinner as a thank-you. But when she pulled her phone from her bag, she realized Preston had bombarded her with texts and missed calls.

[What are you doing?]
