Chloe glanced at it expressionlessly, then suddenly froze.
The necklace looked incredibly familiar.
Once, while accompanying Preston to a high-society auction, she had been so bored she found herself staring blankly at the display cases.
This exact purple gemstone necklace had been sitting right in front of her.
She hadn't listened to a single word the auctioneer said, but she vividly remembered the absurd price tag with its long string of zeros.
After all, who would spend millions of dollars on a single piece of jewelry?
"The Sovereign Amethyst is a collector's masterpiece. It is the only one of its kind in the world, a true symbol of exclusive devotion. Mrs. Hayes, you and your husband must be so deeply in love! He clearly adores you!"
The specialist carefully lifted the necklace from the velvet, her voice practically vibrating with excitement and envy.

"There's no need to try it on."
"Why not?!" Wendy blurted out immediately. "Mr. Hayes bought you such an extravagant gift! How can you just trample all over his feelings like this?!"
The specialist looked deeply uncomfortable, offering a strained smile. "Yes, Mrs. Hayes, this makes things very difficult for me to explain to Mr. Hayes..."
"Just tell him I hate it."
Without another word, Chloe turned and walked away.
There was no point in trying it on.
This necklace, just like the rest of the expensive jewelry currently sitting in her walk-in closet, was absolutely not her size.
She had a slender, elegant neck and wore much smaller dimensions. Jenna, on the other hand, was far curvier and required a much larger fit.
This supposedly 'custom' resizing—was it really for her, or was it for Jenna?
The two women in the foyer stared at each other in shock.
Before the specialist had even packed up to leave, Wendy was already furiously typing a message to Preston.
[Mr. Hayes! Mrs. Hayes is acting so ungrateful...]
