Roxana hopped into the front passenger seat and began fiddling with the car’s sound system.

Suddenly, an electric scooter shot across the road ahead. The driver slammed on the brakes.

In the back, Winona’s body was thrown by the momentum, and she tumbled toward Stefan. He instinctively wrapped an arm around her waist to steady her, their bodies pressed tightly together. For a fleeting moment, her lips brushed the hollow of his throat. He swallowed hard, his gaze darkening.

Winona suddenly realized her hand had somehow caught on his shirt, unfastening a button. Mortified, she let go and scrambled back to her side of the seat.

Stefan’s expression didn't change, but a dark glint flickered in his eyes.

Roxana had turned around just in time to witness the intimate moment. She was surprised to see that her brother showed no trace of his usual aversion to being touched by women. In fact, he looked… receptive.

When they arrived at the condominium, Roxana realized Winona lived right across the hall from Stefan. She shot her brother a suspicious look. This had to be premeditated.

Winona said her goodbyes and went into her apartment.

As soon as Stefan and Roxana were inside their own place, she started interrogating him. “Stefan, you’ve had a crush on Winona this whole time, haven’t you? You even moved in across the hall from her!”

“No,” he said coldly.

Seeing he wouldn’t admit it, Roxana laughed. “Then why were you grabbing her waist? I saw it! And when she kissed your throat, you looked like you were enjoying it. Are you holding back because she’s with someone else? That’s silly.

Don’t be! If you like her, go after her! Remember Mom and Dad? They dated, broke up, married other people, and then rekindled their old flame, divorced their spouses, and got back together. It was a huge scandal! With them as an example, you should just go for it! True love conquers all obstacles and gossip!”

Stefan opened a box of medicine and poured her a glass of water.

“Come take your pills, and stop playing matchmaker.”

It was obvious Winona wasn’t over Yulen yet. He couldn’t get in the middle of that. He was Stefan Goddard; he had too much pride to be the kind of man who would steal another’s girlfriend.
