Blythe and Tallulah were in too much pain to even form a coherent sentence.
Yulen shifted his gaze to Winona.
Winona had zero desire to waste her breath on them. Seeing the doctor and nurses rush in, she cried out anxiously, "Please, check on my grandmother! She just suffered a massive shock and passed out."
The doctor immediately ushered everyone out of the room so they could work.
Winona had no choice but to step into the hallway.
Yulen instructed his assistant to take Blythe and Tallulah away to get their wounds treated.
Standing outside the room, Yulen wanted to demand an explanation for what had just happened, but seeing the sheer terror and exhaustion on Winona's face, the words caught in his throat. He decided to wait until Nikita's test results came back.
Winona stood by the door, completely consumed by anxiety and fatigue, refusing to spare Yulen a single glance.
If anything happened to Nikita, she would make Blythe and Tallulah pay.
Half an hour later, the doctor emerged.
Winona rushed forward. "Doctor, how is she?"
The doctor sighed heavily. "The patient's bodily functions were already in an extremely fragile state. This sudden shock caused her to collapse. We've administered emergency treatment, and while her vitals are temporarily stable, it's hard to say when she'll wake up. We need to keep her under strict observation."
Hearing those words, a crushing wave of sorrow hit Winona, and large tears rolled down her cheeks.
"Winona..."
Yulen stepped forward, reaching out to comfort her, but Tallulah—now sporting fresh bandages—walked over, her face plastered with a mask of guilt.
"Winona, it's entirely our fault. We never should have gone in to say hi to Nikita. We had no idea that after all these years, she still harbored so much resentment over my mom remarrying. We didn't know seeing my mom would make her that furious. My mom just wanted to make amends with you, not steal you away from her... Why can't Nikita just understand my mom?"
Yulen was well aware of the strained history between Winona and Blythe.
