As soon as the words left her mouth, her breathing hitched, growing shallow and rapid again. Her face looked even more frail than before.
Terrified of sending her into another shock, Winona forced a bright, reassuring smile. "They were lying to you, Grandma. Yulen and I are perfectly fine. Tallulah is just trying to drive a wedge between us. Please don't listen to them—if you do, you're just falling right into their trap. Think about it: if Yulen was just playing with me, why would he have spent all this time personally making sure you were taken care of?"
Nikita considered this. She knew exactly what kind of person Blythe was. Her former daughter-in-law had always been incredibly lazy, entitled, and highly manipulative.
When Winona was born, Blythe had barely lifted a finger to raise her, opting instead to spend her days playing cards and going on vacations. It was entirely possible she had made up this vicious lie just to stir up drama and tear them apart.
Seeing that Nikita still looked slightly doubtful, Winona gently wrapped her arms around her. "Grandma, you know I'd never let anyone walk all over me. If Yulen had betrayed me, I would have left him in a heartbeat. You know me better than anyone, right?"
Nikita thought about it and realized it was true.
Winona might seem gentle on the outside, but deep down, she was the most fiercely independent person she knew.
If Yulen had actually cheated on her, Winona would have filed for divorce immediately.
Only then did Nikita's racing heart finally settle. Exhausted, she let out a long yawn.
"That's good. If you weren't happy in your marriage, I wouldn't be able to rest in peace."
Hearing the frailty in the old woman's voice made Winona's eyes burn with unshed tears.
She desperately wanted to break things off with Yulen as quickly as possible, but for Nikita's sake, she chose to swallow her pain and keep up the act.
Nikita didn't have much time left, and Winona absolutely refused to let her leave this world carrying regrets.

Rhea Sheffield rushed to the hospital the moment she got Winona's call.
Hearing the horrifying details of what Tallulah and Blythe had done, Rhea was absolutely livid. "That is textbook intentional infliction of emotional distress! It's practically assault. It's a damn shame there are no security cameras in the patient rooms; otherwise, those two bitches wouldn't be able to dodge a massive lawsuit!"
Winona quietly pulled out a small digital voice recorder. "There aren't cameras, but I had this recording."
