The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 362

Now, she was entirely unsure.

Letting out a soft sigh, Winona pulled her hand away from the doorknob, turned on her heel, and walked away.

Inside the room, Stefan was sitting on the sofa, thick bandages visible beneath his partially unbuttoned shirt. Upon his return, he had endured a brutal beating ordered by his father. His back was torn up, and it had taken a significant amount of recovery time just for him to be able to sit upright.

Ophelia stood in front of him, her coat discarded on the floor, leaving her in nothing but a sheer, black slip dress.

Looking at Stefan's completely impassive face, a wave of sheer defeat washed over her features.

After a long pause, Stefan finally spoke. "Ophelia, look at me. I have zero physical reaction to you. My body doesn't lie. I feel nothing for you. If we were to get married, are you prepared to live in a completely sexless marriage? Are you willing to be nothing more than a decorative piece in my home? No. I know you. You'd never settle for that. Stop lying to yourself. You're far too greedy for a life like that."

Mortified, Ophelia snatched her coat off the floor, threw it haphazardly over her shoulders, and practically sprinted out of the room.

Watching her leave, Stefan furrowed his brows in utter disgust.

He picked up his phone. "Wilma, come replace the rug in my room. And throw away the glass Ophelia was drinking from."

"Right away, sir."

Wilma soon entered with a fresh rug. After swapping it out, she mentioned, "By the way, sir, a Ms. Jowett was here just a moment ago. Linda brought her over. Did you get to see her?"

Stefan froze. "Winona was here?"

The realization hit him like a freight train. Ophelia had been stripping off her coat right in front of him. If Winona had seen that, she would have completely misunderstood.

He pushed himself up, desperate to go after her.

Wilma hurried to steady him, her voice filled with concern. "Sir, you can't move that fast yet! She couldn't have gone far. I'll have someone stop her and bring her right back."

The wounds on his back flared with agonizing pain. Ignoring it, he tried to step toward the door but stumbled, crashing heavily to the floor.

Wilma scrambled to help him up.

"Don't worry about me!" Stefan ordered, his voice tight with panic. "Go find her. I need to see her."
