The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 224

"Mom!"

Yulen felt his mother was taking it too far. Even if Winona was in the wrong, she shouldn't be threatening to kick her out.

He turned back to Winona, trying to placate her. "Since nothing actually happened and you weren't physically hurt, let's just move past this. We can't make things too ugly, or how will we work with the Powell family in the future? I'll make sure Lachlan makes it up to you."

"How are you going to make him do that? By getting him to throw a few resources and projects your way? Are you planning to build Locke Group's success off my sacrifice?"

"Winona!" He felt she was being incredibly unreasonable.

"I already said I'd get justice for you! What more do you want?"

"I won't drop the lawsuit," Winona said coldly. "Don't forget, I was the one who negotiated the partnership with Powell Group in the first place. Furthermore, I highly doubt Lachlan can impact that deal. He hasn't even inherited Powell Group yet—what real say does he have? You two burst in here, demanding I compromise and forgive Lachlan without even knowing the facts. Don't you find yourselves ridiculous?"

Furious, Willow raised her hand to slap her.

Winona didn't just stand there and take it. She caught Willow's wrist, her gaze turning icy. "Mrs. Locke, I highly suggest you keep your hands to yourself. Otherwise, I'll sue you for assault, and you can go keep the Powell family's precious heir company in a holding cell!"

"You! You! You!"

Willow was practically beside herself with rage.

Yulen was about to speak when the half-open front door was suddenly pushed wide.

Stefan and Hayes stood in the doorway. It was unclear how much they had overheard.

Wanting to maintain her dignity as an elite socialite, Willow swallowed her anger and awkwardly lowered her hand.

He hadn't realized Lachlan had gone that far!

And Winona... to protect herself, she had nearly died!

She had risked her life to remain faithful to him, yet he had doubted her so cruelly.

A wave of immense regret washed over him. Looking at Winona, he said shamefully, "Winona, I'm so sorry. I didn't know it was that severe. If I had known, I never would have said those things. Don't worry, I'll hire a lawyer and help you sue Lachlan. I'm standing by your side on this."

"Yulen!" Willow glared at him in utter dissatisfaction.

She knew her foolish son would go soft. He was absolutely hopeless.

Winona replied icily, "Don't bother, Mr. Locke. You should focus on maintaining your precious relationship with the Powell family and shaking hands with Lachlan. Now, get out!"
