Hearing the prognosis, Winona's first thought was her mountain of pending work. Being out for a month would throw everything completely off schedule.
Stefan spoke gently. "Just focus on resting. I'll take care of everything else for you."
Exhausted, she offered a weak, "Okay," before drifting back to sleep.
When she woke up again, Stefan was gone, replaced by Roxana, whose eyes were red and puffy.
"I'm so sorry, Winona," Roxana said, her voice thick with guilt. "I should have just put my foot down and taken that psychopath to the bathroom myself. I never should have let you go."
"It's not your fault," Winona rasped, her voice still incredibly weak. "Where is Maeve? I can't just let her get away with this."
Roxana sniffled, a hard edge creeping into her voice. "Don't worry. Stefan didn't go soft on her this time. He tossed her into the tank with Dora."
Winona blinked, stunned. "He fed her to a shark?"
"Dora doesn't really eat people," Roxana explained quickly. "But anyone tossed in that tank usually comes out completely out of their mind from the sheer terror."
Winona frowned. "What happens when her mother finds out?"
"So what? She's tried to hurt you over and over again. Did she really think there wouldn't be consequences?" Roxana huffed. "Stefan already said if Mrs. Mallory dares to show up and cause a scene, he's cutting off every single resource and contract the Goddard Group has funneled into their family over the years. Once the Mallorys go bankrupt, I highly doubt they'll have the time or energy to bother you anymore."

Out in the hallway, Stefan stood silently by the door.
His mother and Mrs. Mallory had called him over a dozen times each. He ignored all of them. But when Kieran Mallory finally called, Stefan picked up.
"Stefan, please. I am begging you," Kieran pleaded, his voice cracking. "Send her back to the Capital. I swear to you, I will keep her on a tight leash. She will never step foot in front of you again."
Stefan's tone was ice. "It's too late for that. She finally managed to push me over the edge. Don't worry, I won't lay a hand on her. She's just spending a little quality time with Dora. I'll send her back to you without a single scratch."
On the other end of the line, Kieran went deathly pale. Stefan was using his absolute worst interrogation tactic on his own daughter. There was no telling if that shark might suddenly snap and tear her apart.
