"What happened?" Yulen frowned deeply. "Everything was fine just a few days ago."

Camille snapped, "The Powell project hit a technical roadblock, and not a single person in our R&D department could fix it. Of course he cancelled the contract!"

"Our R&D team is one of the best in Riverton," Yulen argued. "We've had countless breakthroughs. There's no way they couldn't solve a simple issue."

"That was *before*," Camille scoffed. "Things are different now."

Ever since Winona stepped back from the team, the Locke Group hadn't produced a single new innovation. They were coasting entirely on past successes.

Yulen thought back to when Tallulah had resigned due to her pregnancy. The department had indeed slipped since then. He sighed.

It seemed he would have to force Tallulah to go back to work once the baby was born.

He thought for a moment before suggesting, "What if we ask Mrs. Powell to put in a good word for us?"

Camille rolled her eyes. "You think I didn't try that? She is in Yelden Country right now, and she's completely unreachable. Plus, Victor is incredibly stubborn. I doubt he'd even listen to her."

She began pacing the living room, her anxiety spiking. "Victor was so eager to cancel... Do you think he found out the Goddard scandal was Tallulah's doing? Maybe he's trying to distance his company from us because he thinks we're toxic. I told you, corporate reputation is everything. Once people find out you play dirty, the contracts vanish."

Yulen rubbed his temples, a massive headache forming.

But what could he do? He couldn't just hand Tallulah over to the authorities on a silver platter to appease the Goddard Group. She was carrying his child. He had to protect her at all costs.

"We can't just let this go," Camille muttered furiously. "We have to find a way to salvage the Powell contract. If word gets out, other partners might start jumping ship too, thinking the Locke Group is going under. I'm going to call my husband, Paige's husband, and Yvettea's husband. We'll pool our network and see if someone can pressure Victor."

Yulen suddenly thought of Sylvan Scully. He and Sylvan had grown quite close recently, and Sylvan had deep roots in the Capital. Maybe Sylvan would be willing to pull some strings and convince Victor not to cancel.

He immediately pulled out his phone and dialed Sylvan's number.
