The Wife He Forgot to Marry novel Chapter 41

Stefan smiled. "She's already your student now."

"You mean Winona?" Jericho asked, surprised.

Stefan nodded. "She once saved my grandmother's life using a unique acupuncture technique passed down through the Jowett family. I saw her potential and thought it would be a shame to let it go to waste. If she could study under you, she could follow in your footsteps and make a real mark in the medical research industry."

"Then why didn't you say anything earlier?" Jericho wondered.

“Well, since it was obvious the two of you were meant to work together as mentor and student, I figured there was no need for me to step in,” Stefan replied. "This way, she won't feel like she owes me a favor."

Jericho let out a hearty laugh. "But I only came to Riverton to give this speech because you invited me. So, in a way, you were the one who connected us. You still deserve the credit."

Stefan just offered a humble smile and said no more.

After Winona returned home, she received an email from Jericho containing scans of his handwritten notes. These were invaluable notes—materials most people would never have access to, shared only with his students. She was deeply grateful and resolved to study hard, determined not to disappoint the faith he had placed in her.

Once Nikita was discharged from the hospital, Winona made frequent visits to Helena’s house, preparing nourishing stews to help her grandmother recover. During these visits, Nikita often asked why she didn't bring Yulen along.

Winona never knew how to answer, debating whether to tell her that she and Yulen had separated. Nikita's worry only grew. "Winona," she’d insist, "you must bring Yulen to see me next time, you hear?"

Fearing her grandmother would spend another sleepless night worrying, Winona could only vaguely agree.

Winona gave a cynical smile and drove away.

Yulen caught sight of a familiar car pulling away. He squinted, trying to get a better look through the dim streetlights.

"Yulen, what are you looking at?" Tallulah asked, noticing his distraction.

Yulen watched the car disappear, an inexplicable sense of unease settling in his heart. Could that have been Winona's car? But he quickly reassured himself. If it were Winona, she would have confronted him directly, not just driven off. He dismissed the thought and turned back to Tallulah. "Let's go inside."

Tallulah nodded, but a bitter feeling lingered. The sight of that car had clearly made Yulen think of Winona. A few days ago, Paige had stormed in to confront her about the Harmony Arcade shop and had even slapped her. Tallulah had swallowed her pride, avoided a conflict, and obediently returned the shop, a move that successfully made Yulen feel even more protective of her. He had been by her side constantly these past few days to make up for it. She had thought that by keeping him close, she could slowly make him forget Winona.
