Biscuit trotted happily ahead, pulling so hard Winona could barely keep up with him.
Suddenly, a figure stepped into her path.
It was Yulen.
Winona didn't even acknowledge his existence, but he fell into step beside her, his tone laced with heavy concern. "Winona, it's freezing out here. You should really wear a heavier coat."
Just hearing his voice made her stomach churn.
Tightening her grip on Biscuit's leash, she sped up her pace.
Seeing her look at him with such utter disgust sent a dull ache through Yulen's chest. Yes, he had lied to her and betrayed her, but his feelings for her had always been real.
How could she just drop him so easily?
Eventually, Yulen arrived at the hospital.
Knowing he was currently living right above Winona kept Tallulah on high alert. Swallowing all her jealousy and rage, she looked up at him with teary eyes and whispered weakly, "Yulen... my stomach hurts so much."
For the sake of the baby, Yulen walked over and gently held her.
"What exactly did you do today? Who upset you this time to land you in a hospital bed?"
Since moving into the Locke estate with Tallulah, Yulen had quickly realized she was nothing like the sweet, compliant girl she pretended to be. When they fought, her temper was explosive.
But she was the mother of his child, and he couldn't just abandon her because she had a short fuse.
Besides, he had moved out now. Returning home only occasionally didn't disrupt his peace.
He used to resent his father for never coming home, but now he completely understood. Being under the same roof 24/7 was a recipe for disaster; maintaining a separate residence actually helped preserve the relationship.
Seeing that he still cared enough to comfort her, Tallulah felt a wave of relief.
Seizing the opportunity, she played the victim. "I went to the mall today and ran into Winona. I just went over to say hello, but she immediately started hurling insults at me. She even got physical! Thank God I protected my stomach, otherwise... I don't even want to think about what could have happened."
Yulen frowned. "Didn't I tell you to stay far away from her?"
Tallulah pouted. "I just wanted to apologize! I know I did some awful things to her in the past because I was acting impulsively, but I've learned my lesson!"
He slowly lowered his phone and stared at Tallulah, his voice dropping to a glacial chill. "Tallulah. You lied to me again, didn't you? When are you going to stop creating problems out of thin air? You know exactly how delicate this pregnancy is, yet you continue to do incredibly stupid things that put our baby at risk?"
His words hit her like a slap to the face.
Tallulah couldn't understand why Yulen was so quick to condemn her without offering a shred of comfort or love.
She desperately wanted to scream at him, but she was terrified of pushing him away for good.
The sheer injustice of it all overwhelmed her, and tears began to spill down her cheeks.
Seeing her cry, Yulen lost the energy to keep yelling at her.
Rubbing his jaw in frustration, he muttered, "Just calm down. I'm going outside for a smoke."
Left alone in the sterile hospital room, Tallulah sat in silence, drowning in her toxic emotions.
The colder Yulen grew toward her, the deeper her hatred for Winona festered.
*If only Winona was dead.*
