Winona knew he had connections, so at a time like this, she had no choice but to trust him.
Yulen noticed the dark circles under her eyes. “You must not have slept well last night,” he said. “I’ve hired a nurse for Nikita and a private tutor for Greta. With them being looked after, you should come home with me and get some proper rest.”
This was the perfect opportunity to mend their relationship, and Yulen had no intention of letting it slip by. The more Winona owed him, the harder it would be for her to walk away. As long as he was more careful not to expose his relationship with Tallulah, Winona would never have to know the truth.
Winona desperately wanted to refuse, but for Helena’s sake, she finally relented. “Okay.”

Despite her long absence, Winona was surprised to find that the villa looked exactly the same.
Staring at the spotless, immaculate home, she felt like a stranger. She had made a clean break from Yulen and this house, never imagining she would one day return.
Yulen saw her dazed expression and smiled casually. “What are you thinking about? Go wash your hands. Cora should have dinner ready by now.”
He was a sharp, perceptive man. When he wanted to turn on the charm, he knew exactly how to make someone feel special.
Unfortunately for him, Winona now knew his honeyed words were laced with poison, and her heart remained as still as a frozen lake.
She walked silently into the dining room.
Cora was surprised to see Winona, but quickly decided it was to be expected. In her mind, no woman would willingly leave a man as rich and powerful as Yulen.
A shrewd woman who knew what not to say, Cora simply smiled. “Ma’am, it’s good to have you back. Sir told me this morning to buy all your favorite dishes, said you’d be coming home today. It’s been a while. Come, try my cooking and see if I’ve improved.”
Winona had long been aware that Cora knew which side her bread was buttered on and gave her a cool, indifferent look without replying.
Yulen was on the balcony, taking a call. His expression was gentle, his tone patient. Winona knew he had to be talking to Tallulah. Of course. Tallulah couldn’t be happy that he was spending time with her. He was certainly a busy man, juggling her and Tallulah. She wondered if he ever got tired.
Yulen told her to be sure to drink it before heading into the study to deal with work.
Winona went to their bedroom and stepped into the walk-in closet. It was filled to the brim with clothes in a style similar to hers, but they weren't her own.
She called Cora in and asked what was going on.
Cora looked awkward but answered truthfully. “Ms. Shipley had me buy them. She said we couldn't let Sir know you had moved out.”
Winona was stunned. “So, Yulen never knew I was gone?”
Cora nodded.
Winona dismissed her, her mind racing as she replayed Yulen’s recent actions.
