The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 826

She had already learned the hard way that running her mouth only pushed Stefan further onto Winona's side. This time, she hadn't insulted Winona at all. Winona was the one hurling accusations. She couldn't wait to see whose side Stefan would take now.

Margaret took a dramatic step backward, completely missing the threshold behind her. Her heel caught, and she went crashing hard onto the floor.

The impact jolted her old spinal injury, and an excruciating, white-hot pain ripped through her back. All the color drained from her face, leaving her gasping for air.

Winona blinked in genuine surprise. She hadn't even laid a finger on the woman.

She turned to Ezra Vane. "Get her to the hospital."

Ezra nodded and immediately escorted the groaning woman out. Winona stayed behind just long enough to ensure the nanny had Audrey settled before following them to the hospital.

Later that evening, Stefan rushed straight from the airport to the emergency room.

Margaret had already been examined and medicated, the sharpest of the pain dulled, but her eyes were still burning with venom when she looked at Winona.

The moment Stefan walked in, she launched into her act. "Stefan! You and Winona are always so busy, and I was so worried about little Audrey, so I went over to help. And how does she repay me? The second she saw me, she started screaming at me and tried to physically throw me out of the house! I didn't say a single bad word to her. I had no idea she hated me this much!"

She knew the bodyguards had been standing by the door. They had definitely heard Winona tearing into her. There was no way Winona could lie her way out of this.

Stefan completely ignored her theatrics. Margaret had a lifelong habit of terrorizing people and then playing the ultimate victim when they fought back. Her word meant absolutely nothing to him.

He bypassed the bed entirely and walked straight to Winona, his eyes softening. "Are you okay? Did she make things difficult for you again?"

Winona met his gaze, her tone uncompromising. "Your mother isn't lying about one thing, Stefan. I did yell at her, and I didn't hold back. I kicked her out because I refuse to tolerate her presence in my home."
