For years, Cirrus Beverages had been nothing more than a massive, blood-sucking parasite for both the Goddards and the Shepherds. Whenever anyone in the family needed cash, they just dipped their hands into Cirrus's coffers.
Stefan refused to tolerate the parasitic behavior any longer.
He had known firing all of them would make him public enemy number one within the family, but if he didn't completely gut the corruption, the next General Manager wouldn't stand a chance at reforming the company.
Winona frowned. "Cheryl Goddard is the Vice President over there right now. Do you think she has what it takes?"
She knew Stefan was already stretched to his absolute limit. If he had to micromanage the burning wreckage of Cirrus, he'd literally never sleep again. She wasn't sure if Cheryl had the backbone to handle the fallout.
Stefan shook his head. "Cheryl doesn't have the killer instinct, and her strategies are far too safe. She can't drive a total overhaul. She's a great deputy, but that's it."
Winona sighed. "So the person you're planting in the GM seat... can they actually clean up this mess?"
"They should be able to."
Stefan had absolute faith in his ability to read people.
Tracing the faint outlines of the bruises on his back, Winona grumbled, "Your dad is vicious. It's just a business decision; how could he beat you like this? If I see him, I swear I'm going to give him a piece of my mind."
Amusement danced in Stefan's eyes. "To him, it wasn't just a business decision. By cutting out his cronies, I effectively wiped out at least three hundred million in under-the-table profits he skims from Cirrus every year. He doesn't hold an actual role at the Group anymore; he lives entirely off his dividends and the family trust. Maintaining his yachts, his equestrian estate, and his luxury fishing trips burns through cash. Taking away that money means taking away his toys. Of course he was furious."
Winona's eyes widened in sheer disbelief.
"There's that much illegal profit in Cirrus? On top of the corporate budget?"
Stefan nodded. "Cirrus owns several massive manufacturing plants that do highly lucrative contract work for other brands. Almost all of that side revenue was being funneled straight into their pockets."
