Hayes chuckled. "Stefan, I never knew you were such a good Samaritan. How did I miss that before?"
Stefan ignored the teasing, taking a sip of water from his glass. "If you lose this case, you'll ruin your reputation," he reminded him. "So make sure you win."
"You don't have to tell me. You know what I'm capable of."
Winona had always thought of Stefan as a taciturn man, so she was surprised to see him joking with Hayes.
After lunch, Hayes said, “I have to run. Stefan, if you’re free, you can drive Ms. Jowett home.”
Stefan turned to Winona. "Ms. Jowett, shall we?"
Winona hesitated for a moment, but seeing him already walking towards the door, she quickly followed.
Once they were in the car, Winona remembered she had left some things at Yulen’s house and had to go back for them, so she gave the driver his address.
Stefan frowned upon hearing it. "Ms. Jowett, are you still staying with him?"
She didn't have to explain, but she answered earnestly anyway. "I moved back in when he promised to represent my aunt, Helena. But I don't want his help anymore, so I won't be staying there. I'm just going back to pick up a few things."
Stefan gave a brief nod and told the driver to head out.
The driver, meanwhile, was wondering to himself why Mr. Goddard, who was never one for gossip, was suddenly so interested in Ms. Jowett's personal affairs.
The car pulled up to the villa's entrance.
Winona grabbed her bag and was about to open the door when a wave of dizziness washed over her, causing her to fall back into her seat. Stefan reached out and steadied her by the shoulders.
They were so close that her senses felt heightened, and she could smell the faint, pleasant scent of his cologne. A blush crept up her ears as she whispered, "Thank you."
Stefan released her with the grace of a gentleman. "Do you need me to go in with you?" he asked.
Winona shook her head. "No, that's alright. I appreciate you driving me here."
When Winona heard him say the name "Tallulah," she let out a scoff and left the villa.
She was about to hail a cab when she saw the familiar Maybach driving towards her. It stopped right in front of her.
The window rolled down to reveal Stefan's handsome features. She hadn't expected him to wait.
"Get in, Ms. Jowett," he said, his voice low and pleasant.
Whatever lingering frustration she felt from her encounter with Yulen completely vanished.

Back at her apartment building, she said goodbye to Stefan and went inside.
Rhea rushed over from the balcony, her face alight with gossip. "I saw everything from the balcony just now! The man who dropped you off was Stefan Goddard, wasn't it? Are you two dating?"
