Marie stood over Dan, looking down at him from above. “From now on, you’d better stay out of my sight; if I see you again, I’ll beat you again.”

It was the same threat as last time. Honestly, even if she didn’t say it, every time Dan ran into her, things never ended well for him. After all, ever since that faked death years ago, in Marie’s eyes, he was nothing short of an unforgivable sinner.

“Marie, you damn woman!” Dan hissed through gritted teeth.

He barely managed to get that one line out before he couldn’t speak anymore—his whole body hurt like hell, as if every organ had been smashed to pieces.

This is insane. Will this ever get cleared up? It’s beyond ridiculous.

Derrick watched Marie fuming, especially when he saw how badly Dan had been beaten.

He’d always thought of himself as fearless, but now, even his bones tensed up

involuntarily.

So this is how she reacts after finding out she’s pregnant? It was as if she wanted to kill the father of her child.

Derrick stayed silent.

Watching Marie beat up Dan was already… complicated enough; now, it was even worse.

After that, Derrick and Marie left together.

Dan, meanwhile, struggled to push himself up off the ground. One of the bodyguards tried to help him, but he barked, “Get lost!”

He was burning with fury. That damn woman… Is she completely unreasonable now? Can’t she listen to anyone? Do I look like the kind of guy who sleeps with someone and doesn’t take responsibility?

The more he thought about it, the angrier he got.

His phone buzzed. He pulled it out and glanced at the screen–it was Andy calling.

Dan answered. “Speak.”

Andy’s voice came through the line. “I’m in Redwood for some business. You and Marie are… okay, right?”

Ever since that poker night–where Marie had shown up and turned the whole thing into chaos -Dan’s friends had all been terrified of her.

Especially Blanc; he’d just gotten out of the hospital after being beaten last time.

Andy, now that he was in Redwood, had learned Marie was there too. He quickly called to check in. If Dan was still tangled up with Marie, Andy wasn’t about to risk grabbing lunch with

him.

He’d rather skip the meal than get caught in another one of Marie’s rampages. Her reputation wasn’t just talk—when she got angry, even people trying to break up the fight got punched.

Andy had learned to be cautious.

Dan said flatly, “I just got beaten by her.”

He’d barely picked up the phone when his friend called to ask that question–it only made his blood boil even more.

Andy went quiet. Well… guess I deserve that for calling at the worst possible time.

He finally asked, “So what was it this time?”

The least he could do was ask–otherwise, he wouldn’t sound like a real friend.

Dan didn’t answer at first. Just hearing the question made his liver ache with anger.

“She’s pregnant.”

Andy blinked. “Pregnant? And she beat you? So that means you really did sleep with her last time?”

Dan went silent again. Great. Now I am hurt even more.

“I didn’t,” he said through clenched teeth.

But at this point, even his own friends didn’t believe him—just like Marie didn’t.

In their eyes, Marie wasn’t stupid. She’d never make a move without evidence.

If she was beating Dan up, it had to mean she had proof.

“I was with you guys that night,” Dan reminded him. “Did you all forget?”

Andy paused. “Yeah, you were with us the whole night.”

Knowing Marie had just beaten Dan up, he wasn’t about to tempt fate.

Last time, Marie had taken all of them down before they could even react. Andy had definitely learned his lesson. That was why, upon hearing she was in town, he’d called first–to make sure things were safe.

If Marie and Dan had cleared things up, he’d have no problem hanging out again.

But hearing she’d just attacked him? No way.

“Then why’d you even call me?” Dan growled.

“I just wanted to make sure things between you two were sorted out,” Andy said carefully. “I’m in Redwood too–I’ve got to be cautious.”

Dan fell silent.

Those words stung more than he cared to admit.

Thanks to that damn woman Marie, even his own friends were now too scared to be seen with him.
