Dan thought bitterly. Whoever ends up with that woman is in for a world of hurt…
“Cut the crap; we’re having lunch,” he snapped.
Andy went silent. I really don’t want to; it serves me right for even making this call.
Meanwhile, Marie and Derrick returned to the hotel. The entire way back, Marie was cursing under her breath; her mouth just wouldn’t stop, as if she wanted to bite Dan into pieces.
Once they got back, Derrick handed her a glass of lemon water. “Calm down; you’re pregnant now. You shouldn’t be getting angry.”
Everyone said pregnant women should avoid anger–stay cheerful, stay relaxed–so the baby would be born with a good temperament.
But just the thought of being pregnant was enough to make Marie furious.
“Get a doctor to check me,” she said sharply.
She wasn’t about to go to a hospital. But a pregnancy like this–wasn’t it something that could be tested quickly?
Derrick nodded and called Sebastian to find a doctor.
Sebastian picked up immediately. “Consider it done.”
Derrick frowned. “You’re not going to bring another mental patient this time, are you?”
Sebastian froze. That was… insulting. But he couldn’t exactly argue. After what happened last time, he’d earned that. Still, he couldn’t help defending himself. “That was an accident. The other guy was just too good at pretending.”
“Yeah, a mental patient–you treated him like a normal person.”
Sebastian went quiet.
He couldn’t keep talking about it, or he really would go crazy. That incident was going to haunt him forever. He honestly wished that fake patient would just disappear; what a nightmare.
This time, though, Sebastian handled things properly.
He quickly found a doctor, who rushed over for an emergency check. A simple urine test was done, and the result showed two bright lines.

Marie stared at it. “What the heck is this?”

The doctor said calmly, “It’s positive. You’re pregnant. I recommend you go to the hospital for a full examination.”
Marie froze, then her whole body trembled with anger. She closed her eyes, drew in a slow breath, and when she opened them again, her face was cold.
Without a word, she stood, went to her room, and came back holding something in her hand.
Derrick saw her heading straight for the door, with something still in her grip.
“Wait,” he said.
Just as Marie reached for the handle, Derrick strode forward and slammed his palm against the door, forcing it shut again.
“Move,” she snapped.
Derrick stayed silent.
The doctor who’d come to check her was so terrified he didn’t even dare breathe loudly.
“Let the doctor go first,” Derrick said quietly. “You’re scaring him.”
Marie’s eyes blazed. “Move. I’m going to kill that scumbag!”
She was truly on the verge of losing it.
On the way back earlier, she’d still been clinging to a bit of hope–thinking maybe it was just a
stomach issue.

But now? She couldn’t accept it. She couldn’t believe she was pregnant with that scumbag Dan’s child.
She wanted to go and end him right now.
Seeing her in that state, Derrick swallowed hard and snatched the thing from her hand.
“You-” she began.
“Not now,” he said firmly. “You can’t be this reckless. Be good.”
“Give it back!” Marie shouted.
She didn’t want to hear any of this; Derrick’s gentle tone only made her feel worse.

Meanwhile, Abraham had just hung up the phone with Marie when he went downstairs and saw Stella sitting obediently with a fruit plate in her lap.
At least when it came to eating, she was never any trouble. Now that her pregnancy symptoms had eased, her cheeks were always puffed from snacking.
When she saw Abraham coming down, Stella spit out a cherry pit and said, “Something feels off about Marie being sick.”
Abraham frowned. “Off how?”
“I don’t know,” Stella said, frowning. “I feel like… maybe Marie’s pregnant?”
Abraham went quiet for a moment–then it hit him.
Come to think of it, the doctors Derrick had been taking Marie to see lately had been… bizarre, to say the least.
“I’m serious!” Stella said. “I really think she’s pregnant!”
She’d been vomiting nonstop for so long; if it wasn’t pregnancy, what else could it be?
Abraham sat beside her, set the fruit plate aside, and took her hand.
“Abraham?” she asked softly.
“She’s pregnant,” he confirmed.
“What?” Stella blinked. “Wait—really?”
“Yeah,” Abraham said with a sigh. “She is.”

Stella’s mouth fell open. “Then… all this time…?”
She trailed off, her face twisting in disbelief. So she really is pregnant? Then why the heck had Derrick been taking her to see psychiatrists?
This was the most absurd thing she’d ever heard.
Abraham sighed again. “This morning, Derrick took her to the hospital to see a gastroenterologist.”

The readers' comments on the novel: The Wrong Girl and the Wronged Girl (Stella and Ethan)
Ch 489 Doesn’t this prove that Dan doesn’t actually have amnesia? Why would he go to the island with a strange woman and why would he steal from Derrick? He doesn’t know them....
Ch 488 I feel like this is going to be what Stella stole in his study in Pagenda or wherever his estate was....
Ch 485 I thought it was going to be the Reed family mine that she robbed, thus taking the Keenes product and leaving them in that situation....
Ch 483 o then, how did the Reeds fine her? How did they not know where she was from?...
Ch 477 Definitely hidden pedo in here, referring to tiny women as little girls in every way possible....
Ch 468 How could Stella inherit her adopted father’s weak stomach constitution?...
Ch 468 Abraham and Marie’s mother has been called Evelyn, Diane and Loretta.. which is it? Evelyn has been the most used....
Ch 465 She still doesn’t know the mistress is Lillian’s aunt?...
Ch 464 Why didn’t she kick her out herself be for she went to attack the mistress…...
Ch 463 This is stupid now. I understand being scared in his presence enough to not think straight, but she’s a lone more often than not and has plenty of time to think things through, especially if she has time to get gossip from Rivermount and report to Stella....
