What had I done after that night? She’d taken out her anger on Dan again because of it. Marie had gone completely insane.
“Did you look at me like I was some kind of idiot back then?”
Idiot? I’d been more than that–I’d been a lunatic over it. And for what… blood boil. She wanted to beat Derrick to death, but before she co arms tightly around her waist.
“Let go of me! Let go!” she shouted.
“You can’t hit me right now,” Derrick said firmly.
“You scumbag… you!”
“Wait until after the baby’s born; come on, calm down.”

Derrick was never good at comforting women, but faced with Marie’s outburst, he tried his best.
He was terrified that if she got too worked up, something might happen to the baby.
“Let me go!” Marie yelled, pushing against his chest.
But there was no way he’d dare let go. With how agitated she was, the second he released her, she’d be jumping up to start swinging.
“Promise you won’t hit me, and I’ll let go.”
Marie glared at him. “You still think you’re getting out of this without a beating?”
“Do you even realize what you did? Why did you run?”
Marie was furious.
Because Derrick had run that night, she’d thought it was Dan who’d done that to her. The she’d carried after that… she could barely stand to remember it.

They’d just gotten their marriage certificate, and then that had happened. She’d been beyond livid.
“I didn’t run,” Derrick said quietly.
“Then what the heck happened?”

Sebastian froze. When Marie’s eyes locked on him, his face drained of color.
He stood stiffly and stammered, “M–Marie…”
“Get over here!”
“I can’t!” Sebastian squeaked.
Oh, God… So she finally knew.
Meeting Marie’s glare–and feeling the fury radiating off her–he couldn’t take a single step forward.
Just thinking of how she’d beaten Dan to a pulp before made his bones feel weak. He knew she’d kill him if she got the chance.
“Marie, I-”
“You’re the one who dragged him away!”
Sebastian went silent. Could I deny it?
But the second he met Derrick’s warning gaze, he inhaled sharply through his nose. There was no way he could pretend otherwise. So now… Whether I speak or stay silent, I’m dead either way.
Sebastian looked from Derrick to Marie, misery written all over his face.
“Marie… is it true or not?” he said weakly.
Sebastian hesitated, darting a glance at Derrick–whose eyes screamed say yes.
He knew Derrick didn’t want him to lie; but Marie–Marie was the last person anyone wanted to provoke.
Finally, with a defeated look, Sebastian started to back away as he mumbled, “Y–yeah… it was
me.”

Before Marie could react, he bolted straight into the cockpit and slammed the door shut behind him, locking it tight.
Maric tried to go after him, but Derrick held her back with all his strength.
She was seething. “That scumbag! I’ll kill him!”
Sebastian stood pressed against the locked door, scared out of his mi
Right before he’d slammed it, he’d caught a glimpse of Maric charging toward him–and it had been terrifying. That woman is not normal.
He’d known this would happen. Even before dragging his brother out that night, he’d known that if Marie ever found out, they’d both be dead.
Dan had proven him right–she did beat people within an inch of their lives.
Maybe even to death…
Thinking of how Dan had been beaten twice already during her pregnancy, Sebastian’s fear only deepened.
“Sebastian, you scumbag, get out here!”
“I’m not coming out! Don’t even think about it!”
Sebastian’s voice trembled as he shouted through the door. His heart was pounding so hard it hurt.
At least she couldn’t get in here.
Before the plane could take off, he fumbled for his phone and called Drax and Ashley.
Ashley picked up. “Hello?”
“Ashley, you and Drax need to get out of Falvaria. Now. Hide somewhere.”
“What? Why?”
“Marie’s pregnant—and she just found out my brother’s the one from that night!”
Ashley went silent. She knows…
For weeks, they’d all been on edge over this, terrified she’d figure it out.
Especially every time Marie had gone after Dan—they’d known exactly what that was about.
