That only made him angrier.

Andy shot back, “If you talk back, you’ll just be adding fuel to the fire–and she’ll beat you again!”

Dan was so furious he couldn’t even speak.

At that moment, his phone rang. It was a call from Black Mountain.

He picked it up with clear irritation. “Yeah?”

“Sir, you may need to return to Black Mountain,” said the butler, Lenny, his tone grave.

Dan’s expression darkened. “What happened?”

“There’s been trouble, sir. Mr. Dale and Madam Artemis are fighting.”

Dan froze. “What did you just say?”

He went quiet. The moment she said that, his expression shifted.

It wasn’t like he’d wanted to run. He hadn’t wanted to leave at all–it was Sebastian, Drax, and Ashley!

He hadn’t meant to go… but by the time he realized what was happening, they’d already dragged him away.

Marie’s grip on his wrist tightened until he hissed in pain. “Are you an idiot?”
