Pearce navigated the car down an older, quieter street.

Natalie kept tapping her watch, occasionally sweeping a bored glance over them before returning her gaze to the window.

Twenty minutes later, they arrived at the café.

She was led inside.

The second floor featured private booths, and Gardenia was seated on a plush sofa, cradling a latte.

The heavy, rich aroma of roasted coffee filled the space.

Natalie approached the table. "Why did you call me here?"

Gardenia set her cup down. "You're in desperate need of a lifeline right now, aren't you, Natalie?"

Natalie raised an eyebrow. "You're offering to help me?"

Gardenia nodded. "Jacob told me Seven is actually Nancy. Just introduce me to her, and I'll make your little problem go away."

Natalie stared at her, completely unfazed. "Is that right? And how exactly do you plan on fixing this?"

"It just takes one word from me." She took another sip of her coffee, flashing her signature, composed smile. "I just need to mention it to Hassan."

Natalie's expression didn't so much as twitch.

If the old Natalie had heard that sentence, she would have flipped the table in a blind rage.

Instead, she suddenly laughed. "If you two are so madly in love, why won't he just divorce me?"

She casually brushed a stray lock of hair behind her ear and took a sip of her own coffee. "Or do you just enjoy playing the homewrecker?"

Gardenia's face hardened. "We're just friends. There isn't just romantic and familial love in this world, Natalie. There's friendship, too."

"Wow," Natalie feigned awe. "So it's purely platonic friendship."

Her expression was a masterclass in faux innocence, as if she were genuinely moved by their bond.

Gardenia's eyes turned icy. "Believe what you want."
