Natalie had absolutely zero interest in the core topics presented on the second day of the seminar, so she skipped it entirely. She threw on a casual outfit and went for a long walk, soaking in the local culture, the stunning architecture, and the vibrant hum of the city.

On the third day, the schedule finally shifted to subjects directly relevant to her professional field, so she went to observe.

At noon, she headed down to the restaurant specifically booked by the organizers.

It was a high-end establishment. The organizers had rented out two entire floors exclusively for seminar attendees.

The menu featured incredibly healthy, holistic dishes—a perfect fusion of Western ingredients and Eastern dietary balance that suited the guests perfectly.

The second she walked in, she got a text from Professor Adler.

ad: [Come join me. I don't know any of these people hovering around me anyway.]

Natalie scanned the bustling room.

She spotted him sitting at a corner table. Even though he was actively trying to keep a low profile, his reputation preceded him. People were constantly drifting over to his table, desperate to network with a living legend.

Natalie: [On my way.]

She walked over.

Just as she arrived, Hassan and Gardenia walked up to the exact same table.

There were only two empty seats left across from Professor Adler, and they were separated by another guest.

Gardenia looked at Adler, flashing a picture-perfect, professional smile. “Professor Adler. We didn't quite finish our conversation on the plane the other day. I still have a few questions for you.”

Adler's expression instantly went flat. “Funny, I distinctly remember that conversation going terribly.” He then turned his attention to Natalie. “Young lady, sit right here. You seem like my kind of people.”

Gardenia's knuckles turned white. She forced a stiff, agonizingly awkward smile.

Now there was only one seat left. Either Hassan or Gardenia had to stand.

But Natalie couldn't care less about their little dilemma.

The man sitting next to Natalie recognized Hassan. Likely hoping to score some massive brownie points, he quickly stood up and offered his chair. “Mr. Carlson, please, take my seat.”

He gestured politely. Hassan gave a curt nod. “Thank you.”

He sat down directly to Natalie's left.

With that man gone, the seat to Hassan's left opened up, allowing Gardenia to smoothly slide in next to him.

Adler looked at Natalie. “What's your name, young lady?”
