The corners of Natalie's lips lifted into a small smile. "It's only been a few days, and you're already this clingy?"

She pet Cup affectionately before walking further in and pushing open the bedroom door.

The man was already asleep.

Natalie turned on the light without hesitation and walked in.

The blinding glare caused the man on the bed to furrow his brows slightly.

She didn't care. It was his grandmother who had demanded she come back anyway.

When she emerged from her evening routine, the man had his forearm draped over his eyes, making it impossible to tell if he was awake or asleep.

Cup had followed her into the room.

While she had showered, the little dog had scratched patiently at the bathroom door. Now that she was out, he shadowed her every step, circling her with his head tilted up, watching her with bright, dark eyes.

Natalie had set up a small dog bed for him in the bedroom.

By the time she finished her skincare routine and climbed into bed, Cup dragged his bed over with his teeth, dropping it on her side so he could sleep near her.

She lay down. Just as she turned off the lamp, the man's lazy, husky voice broke the silence. "Out having fun this late?"

Natalie pulled the covers up. "I'm tired. Going to sleep."

He didn't reply. The room sank into silence, save for the soft thumping of the puppy's tail against the floor.

Early the next morning.

Through a haze of sleep, Natalie heard Hassan on the phone. "If that was really written by 'H', she must have attended the symposium too. She might be making a comeback. We need to find her before anyone else does."

She opened her eyes and looked at the man standing by the window. Her breath hitched slightly.

She had reached out to Yale recently, though she hadn't dared to ask directly if hypnosis could make someone remember a face from over a decade ago.

Instead, using Nancy's condition as a cover, she had asked if hypnosis could help Nancy get better.

Yale had said there was a probability it could, but advised against it unless the situation was severe.

That response had given Natalie a good idea of Yale's capabilities.

He might actually have a way to make that assistant remember what the person looked like.

"Did I wake you?" Hassan turned around. Seeing her awake, he paused mid-step.
