Natalie asked, "Dr. Easton, I watched a movie with a friend yesterday where a hypnotist put someone under just by snapping his fingers. Is it really that powerful? Can you do that?"

Yale stopped typing. He looked at her, fell silent for a moment, then raised his hand and snapped his fingers.

"Hello? Are you awake? Are you hypnotized?"

Natalie blinked. "...I'm awake."

Yale chuckled. "Guess I'm not that powerful."

She lowered her gaze. "Then what extent can you reach?"

He didn't answer her question directly. "You're free to go."

She could tell he was acting the same way as before—eager to get rid of her as quickly as possible.

When she walked out, Hassan didn't follow.

She figured Hassan had specifically come to see Yale for his own reasons, and she had almost foolishly believed he was there to accompany her.

Pushing the thought aside, Natalie left the building.

Since she had gotten off from the institute so early, she realized it had been a while since she visited her kickboxing coach, so she drove straight to the training center.

She practiced until five o'clock, when Nancy texted to ask if she was coming back for dinner.

Remembering Cecily's threatening message from the night before, Natalie replied that she wouldn't be returning.

That evening, she headed back to Sycamore Quays and had dinner with Cecily. Hassan didn't come home; he was busy with God knows what.

After dinner, she asked the housekeeper to pack some nutrient-rich broth into a thermos, and accompanied Cecily to the hospital to visit her grandparents.

Her grandmother, Yvonne, was just getting ready to eat, while her grandfather, Lemuel, was receiving acupuncture from a therapist in the adjacent bed.

Yvonne looked incredibly surprised by Cecily's visit.

Natalie walked over casually. "Grandma, Grandma Cecily brought this broth for you. It's really good for your recovery. Let me pour you a bowl."
