She didn't reply.

Pulling a piece of dried chicken breast from her pocket, she tore open the packaging and rewarded Cup with it.

Cup chewed on it enthusiastically, baring his teeth in a way that made his usually cute face look fierce.

But the moment Natalie pet his head, his tail started thumping rapidly, instantly returning him to an adorable little puppy.

Sitting on the wooden bench, Natalie couldn't help but laugh, grabbing his floppy ears and giving them a playful rub.

From a distance, Cecily and Adrian walked over to join her.

"Hassan just texted me, asking if I was walking the dog with you," Cecily remarked. "See? He still cares about you."

Natalie lowered her eyelids, her tone indifferent. "He doesn't even have time to come home for dinner, yet he has time to ask about this."

"There's always time to send a quick text." Cecily's voice dropped into a more serious register. "Natalie, Hassan has always been driven by his career, but he isn't unreasonable. He comes home at night. Both of your annual medical checkups come back perfectly healthy. Why is there still no child?"

Since his illegitimate son had already been brought into the house, Natalie saw no point in hiding the truth about her and Hassan anymore. "Grandma, the truth is, Hassan never wanted kids."

Her gaze drifted toward Adrian. "Maybe he feels that since he already has a child, there's no need for another one."

Cecily furrowed her brow. "It's not like the Carlson family can't afford it. We could raise as many as you could possibly have."

Natalie replied, "If I had a child with him, you all wouldn't treasure Adrian anymore."

Cecily looked away, staring off into the distance.

It was true that Hassan treated the boy incredibly well, but to deny his wife a child after four years of marriage... that didn't sound like something he would do.

The two women sat in silence for a bit longer before getting up to head back.

When Hassan returned home that night, he was carrying a gift bag.
